Carlos Flores couldn't play outside with his son without losing his breath. Sleeping through the night had become a challenge. At 308 pounds, he knew something had to change.
After watching his wife transform her health through bariatric surgery years earlier, Carlos began exploring the same path. But it wasn't until he met Dr. Irving Miranda, a bariatric and general surgeon with Jackson Medical Group, that he felt truly ready.
Dr. Miranda's approach goes beyond the operating room, working alongside patients to build healthier habits, set realistic goals, and prepare them for lasting success. On December 1, 2025, Carlos underwent bariatric surgery and hasn't looked back since.
Today, he's lost more than 90 pounds. But the biggest change isn't the number on the scale, it's the life he's living now. He runs, rides bikes, and plays football and baseball outside with his 10-year-old son.
"I recommend it 100 percent," Carlos said. "Before, I thought I was fine, but now I feel amazing. It changed my life."

It's a small gesture with an impactful message. No one has to carry the weight of their hardships alone.
Our team wore yellow to stand with anyone who's struggling, and to remind everyone around us that support and compassion are always here.
