On August 20, Pope Leo XIV received Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the Vatican, where talks centered on the path toward a just and lasting peace for Lebanon and the stabilization of its southern borders.

Six years ago tomorrow, the Beirut Port explosion took more than 215 lives, injured thousands, and scarred a nation. On this eve of remembrance, we hold the victims, the survivors, and their families in our hearts. We do not forget.

في الذكرى الحادية والثمانين لتأسيس الجيش اللبناني، نحيي الرجال والنساء الذين يشكلون العمود الفقري لسيادة لبنان واستقراره. فيبقى الجيش اللبناني في خدمة جميع اللبنانيين. #لبنان

When the road to southern Lebanon is dangerous, some choose to travel it anyway. On June 11, a convoy of 45 trucks led by the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Paolo Borgia, together with Caritas and other Catholic organizations, carried food, medicine, and fuel toward the isolated villages of Debel, Ain Ebel, and Rmeich. Caught in crossfire and forced to reroute, the convoy pressed on — reaching Debel after a ten-hour journey. It was the twentieth such mission to the south since the war began. We share this story because it matters, and because presence, in the darkest moments, is its own form of hope.

حين يصبح الطريق إلى جنوب لبنان خطِرًا، يختار البعض أن يسلكوه رغم كل شيء. في الحادي عشر من حزيران، حملت قافلة من 45 شاحنة بقيادة السفير البابوي، المطران باولو بورجيا، بالتعاون مع "كاريتاس" ومنظمات كاثوليكية أخرى، مواد غذائية وأدوية ووقودًا نحو قرى دبل وعين إبل ورميش المعزولة. وحين وجدت القافلة نفسها وسط تبادل لإطلاق النار واضطرت إلى تغيير مسارها، تابعت طريقها — ووصلت إلى دبل بعد رحلة استمرت عشر ساعات. كانت هذه المهمة العشرين إلى الجنوب منذ بدء الحرب. نشارككم هذه القصة لأنها تستحق أن تُروى، ولأن الحضور، في أحلك اللحظات، هو بحد ذاته شكل من أشكال الأمل. #لبنان
