Now is a great time to start on a new pool build. With summer's end approaching, it is a really good time to look at starting your pool build. Why? For a few reasons: As it goes from summer into fall and winter, many sub contractors have more availability. With that said their rates are typically lower during their off-season. Another reason is that a pool build can take a while. Pool permitting, construction, inspections, all of those take valuable time; so scheduling them when you wouldn't be using a pool makes sense. Start planning now and by next summer you will enjoying your brand new pool!

An Oasis in the Desert

Living in the southwestern United States means having to sometimes compromise on how we spend our days. Our time outside is sometimes measured in how long it takes to get from the car to the store. We say things like “It’s a dry heat!,” or “Try to stay cool!,” like it was going out of style. How can someone manage high heat, exercise, or family time when it’s so dang hot out? Water! And lots of it! A pool in your backyard would help alleviate many of the stresses that happen naturally here in the SW.

Anyone who has lived down here can tell you, it gets pretty hot during the summer seasons. But how hot is hot? Well, just this year average high temperatures were measured at 105F in Phoenix, AZ; 104F measured in Las Vegas, NV; and a slightly cooler 96F in Austin, TX!
Phew! That’s toasty! Escaping the heat into a pool makes a lot of sense down here, especially when the humidity is low. Even if your pool runs on the warmer side (which can be easily fixed with an aerator) the science of water evaporating means that when you get out of the pool, the air will start to cool you right down!

Now for just a moment, let’s heat things back up. Having a pool is a great way to exercise outdoors, and the best part is that weights are NOT required. Water provides constant and equal pressure against your body. The pool water itself provides a great resistance to your movements, even simply walking can be a great workout.The benefits go further than that! Because of our buoyancy in water, we float a bit, and that means that pressure on joints is relieved due to floating. Lastly, balance while in water is much easier to maintain and the risk of falling is reduced with all that water there to catch you.

One of the last reasons to want to build your own pool is simply for the memories you and your loved ones can create around the pool. Everyone has heard of or been to a pool party; they happen all the time! The possibilities are endless when it comes to making treasured memories: swim lessons, water tag, sports, parties, or even quiet, low-light nights by the water’s edge.
Anyone can make use of the pool at almost any age! You can teach kids to swim, and it’s never too late to learn to swim as an adult!

A pool can be as diverse as the house it sits behind, or the family that swims in it. You may want a longer pool for swimming laps, or a deep diving pool may suit you better, or maybe you just want a simple play pool with no frills.
