Sometimes, I get emotional while shooting, especially when knowing the backstory. This was one of those moments. On Saturday, it rained and rained and rained but finally, the storm cleared and we got to capture this beautiful mama who’s gone through so much to be standing in this moment. But God.

This holiday season has gone by so quickly and somehow, next week will be Christmas. I’m reeling from the speed of it all. Finishing up the year shooting in San Francisco on Saturday and now booking snow sessions in Shaver Lake and Yosemite for January! But first, peep this beautiful family.

Almost six years ago we took their family photos when they announced baby #2. It’s amazing how quickly time passes! Baby #3 is on the way and I’m so excited to get to capture these and (hopefully) be in the room as she comes into this world. Towards the end of the session, this amazing mama rubbed baby dust on my shoulder and instantly I felt a magic that can’t be explained. This is another example of why we love our clients so much!

Last year, we captured their little family in frigid weather at Yosemite. I remember it being so cold that I could barely push the camera buttons. (Always bring gloves and extra sweaters, Reannon) So I was over the moon happy when the weather turned out to be perfect for this session! We weren’t sure she’d make it this far but she did and the whole session was gorgeous. I always say this but we are so thankful for our return clients.

Congratulations to the class of 2022! These last few year have tested you in ways many don’t realize and yet here you are. Celebrate this moment!

Some photographers will tell you they chase the light. Recently, after going through a huge loss in my own family, I’ve realized that it’s not light I’m chasing, it’s love. Love, passion, connection-shared between two people or a family, maybe it’s passion for a new career, excitement for a degree you’ve worked hard for, or love for a new baby you’re about to meet. It all comes back to love. There are times in life where it will be hard to find the light but if you have love, that will bring you through anything. Maybe that’s why the Bible says, love conquers all.

Let me tell you, return clients are the BEST. Hands down. They keep small businesses alive. I owe so much to the people who have supported me by coming back again and again these last two years.
