Jackie Abrams was a pioneering fiber artist whose work expanded contemporary understandings of basketry while reflecting her deep commitment to artisan communities around the globe. Through her involvement with WARP and collaborations in Ghana, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, she championed sustainable craft initiatives and opportunities for women artisans.
Kimono Form 27 exemplifies her distinctive artistic vision, combining woven and painted papers, stitching, netting, and surface embellishment into an elegant sculptural form. Measuring approximately 9.75" high, 10" wide, and 4" deep, this signed work is both a striking artistic statement and a meaningful piece of fiber art history.
This piece was donated from the personal collection of Steve Csipke following his passing. A devoted supporter and longtime friend of Jackie Abrams, Steve carefully stewarded an extensive collection of her work, making this donation a touching tribute to their friendship and shared dedication to the global fiber arts community.
