There’s something special about bringing a little beauty and joy into places where people are fighting hard battles every single day.

As a cancer survivor, I understand what that journey feels like — the fear, the strength it takes, the hope you hold onto, and how even the smallest act of kindness can brighten someone’s day.

Today, I took these fresh flowers to West Cancer in Cornith. What makes them even more meaningful is that they came from my own home garden — a garden I started while going through chemotherapy during my year of treatment. Watching something grow during one of the most challenging times of my life became a reminder that healing, hope, and beauty can still bloom even in difficult times.

Grateful for the incredible physicians, nurses, pharmacists, staff, and patients who inspire hope daily. 💜

Amy Kimmel was diagnosed with stage 4 small bowel cancer in December 2025 at 27 years old. The diagnosis was so elusive that Kimmel's doctors puzzled over it for months as they tried to identify where the malignant cells in her body originated, first wondering if she possibly had a rare form of ovarian cancer.

Wellness Wednesday

Sometimes wellness looks like slowing down long enough to tend to what’s been placed in your hands. Fresh flowers, quiet moments, and caring for the little things nourish the mind, body, and spirit too.

Tip: Re-cut rose stems under running water before placing them in a vase to help them absorb water better and last longer.

“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.” — Luke 12:27

Big moves for cancer therapy. Thank you and Congratulations Dr. Chandler and West Cancer Center & Research Institute

We’re honored to be featured on the front page of Memphis Medical News this month for the groundbreaking work happening in CAR T-cell therapy here at West. 🧬

The article spotlights Dr. Jason Chandler and our innovative, outpatient CAR T-cell therapy program, which is helping bring highly specialized and potentially life-saving cancer treatment closer to home for patients across the Mid-South.

As one of the most promising advancements in cancer care, CAR T-cell therapy is transforming how certain blood cancers are treated, and we are proud to be leading the way in making these cutting-edge therapies more accessible within a community oncology setting.

Thank you to Memphis Medical News for sharing this important story and helping shine a light on the future of cancer treatment. 💙
