Join us tomorrow afternoon at the Lucille McWherter Senior Center for a reception and viewing of work made in a recent Creative Aging Studio Course at Memphis Museum of Science and History.

In October, participants gathered for three weeks, spending the first two weeks working with teaching artist Elaine Blanchard to write a memoir reflection inspired by the Overcoming Hateful Things exhibit. In the final session participants worked with teaching artist Cheeto Ryan to create a portrait collage to accompany the memoir.

This was a small, diverse, class that allowed the participants to find space for vulnerability and sharing among each other, while engaging in self-reflection on a difficult topic.
