On their self-titled debut album for Rounder Records, out June 12th, Breakfield prove that a simple name change can radically transform your entire world.
After more than a decade of making music as Boy Named Banjo, the Nashville-bred four-piece decided to drop that moniker and rename themselves after a road that runs through Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau: a vast & wild expanse of land where they spent countless hours wandering the woods & getting happily lost during their college years.
In a major breakthrough for the band, the renaming quickly ignited a greater sense of freedom & brought a new energy to their finespun form of folk-rock.
Their 4th full-length effort, “Breakfield” came to life in collaboration with producer Sadler Vaden, longtime lead guitarist for Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit & an increasingly in-demand producer/co-writer whose credits include Amythyst Kiah & Morgan Wade.
“Breakfield” finds the four-piece bringing an unbridled sense of freedom to the signature sound that has earned them a loyal following over the last 15 years.
Proving just how powerful a simple name change can be, the 11-song collection documents a musical breakthrough in real time – reincarnated as a band that’s fully in tune with their most adventurous instincts to date.
“We were driving back from Sadler’s studio & talking about how we loved these new songs but how they didn’t really sound like Boy Named Banjo,” says vocalist, guitarist & harmonica player William Reames. “In a way, it’s crazy to change your name after 15 years, but over time the new music told us it was the right move.”
While the new album includes a handful of songs co-written with Vaden, Breakfield also gathered a batch of long-beloved but never-released material, reimagining each tune through the lens of their newly galvanized musicality and less-is-more approach.
This intentionally becomes the perfect backdrop for supporting their razor-sharp lyrics about navigating the complexities of relationships.
The result is a body of work that’s both a bold leap forward and a glorious return to the joyful abandon of their earliest days 15 years ago!

DittyTV Concert Series Alum & long time DittyTV Family member Sam Morrow will release “Southern Boogie” on 6/12 via Copaco Records / Blue Élan Records!
Long celebrated for his swampy blend of country funk & roadhouse blues, Morrow has fully stepped beyond the Americana-leaning palette of his earlier trilogy & into something grittier, louder & raw, Texas-bred southern rock that sounds exactly like what it is: Sam Morrow, confidently evolving.
“Southern Boogie” is what happens when you shed expectations.
Make no mistake, that’s exactly this album represents.
A cross-country move, change of perspective, & fresh outlook on life were catalysts that also steered Morrow to cross the threshold on a new sound.
Recorded mostly live in Austin with producer Jonathan Tyler , the album embraces a stripped-down, analog approach, 2 guitars, bass, keys, drums, tube amps, & no click track. No polish for the sake of polish. No safety net. Just the sound of a band in a room, playing loud & honest.
“Jonathan got it before I even explained it,” says Morrow. “We just wanted it to sound gritty & raw. Like a band in a room, because that’s what it is.”
Morrow grew up in Houston absorbing ZZ Top, punk, &hip-hop before landing in rehab as a teenager.
He found sobriety in Los Angeles & stayed there for over a decade, building a career & a sound. But the move to Nashville & the new album all signal the same thing: his discordant era is over.
This is chapter two.
“I'm the happiest I've ever been," Morrow says. "And I think that shows on the record. It's playful. It doesn't take itself too seriously."
That newfound sense of unbridled optimism pervades the album’s 9 tracks, unlocked in no small part by a new relationship.
After 15 years apart, Morrow unexpectedly reconnected with his high school sweetheart, ultimately falling in love & getting married.
After years of searching, Sam Morrow quit looking for approval. “Southern Boogie” is what's on the other side~ loud, honest, & exactly where he is supposed to be!

Chart-topping, 2x Grammy-nominated country music icon Jo Dee Messina, known for her powerful vocals & extensive catalog is releasing her first new album in 12 years!
“Bridges" is out on June 5th!
Most albums reflect a season; Jo Dee Messina’s “ Bridges” is 10 years' worth of seasons rolled into one. The love, the life, the pain, the fight, the learning & the living through it all.
Written almost entirely by Messina herself, “Bridges’ stands as her most authentic & personal work to date, a deeply reflective journey through heartbreak & healing, faith & perseverance, challenges & growth, & the unwavering resilience that has defined her over the past decade.
On “Bridges” Messina grapples with the notion that life is all about change & and sometimes that change is hard.
“We are often told not to burn bridges & it's good advice,” says Messina. “I've lived long enough to know that's true. But there are also exceptions, & sometimes it's OK to let that baby burn. In life, sometimes we just need to look forward and keep going.”
Along with the new music, Messina has revealed her Bridges Tour: Celebrating 30 Years of Jo Dee Messina. The tour will make stops across North America. A number of dates will also feature a meet & greet + private soundcheck performance VIP package for purchase. For more information on ticket packages and for all up to date news
🎫 https://jodeemessina.com/pages/tour
A true icon, Messina has become a North Star in the music world, carving a path for artists and inspiring the younger generation. See Lainey Wilson’s recent CMA shoutout, Cole Swindell’s ode to “Heads Carolina, Tails California," plus Sierra Ferrell and Nikki Lane’s cover of “Lesson in Leavin’.” She’s not just a country legend — her influence spreads across multiple generations and genres.
Over the past decade, though, Messina, like all of us, has encountered road bumps both minor & heartbreaking: loss, struggle, & sicknesses that might have wrecked someone without glimmers of light to hold onto. Her music. Her children. Her faith. And all of it is woven throughout “Bridges”.
“It's not about a full transformation,” Messina says. “It’s about what I've gone through & how I’ve gotten through it all. But I’m not done living yet. There’s still a lot more to learn.”
And that’s where we find Messina now — at the start of a new chapter. At a turning point but firmly moving forward!

⚡️ SINGLE SPOTLIGHT ~ BOY GOLDEN ⚡️
Visionary singer-songwriter Boy Golden just released a new acoustic version of his hit single “Suffer,” from his critically-acclaimed album “Best of Our Possible Lives” released back in February via Six Shooter Records.
The stripped back single showcases beautiful harmonies that compliment the acoustic guitar & harmonica while placing an emphasis on the lyrics exploring the Buddhist philosophy that the one thing that unifies us all is our human capacity to suffer.
“Suffer” challenges us to commune & connect. Anthemic & defiant, the song’s message is one of acceptance
This new single follows Boy Golden’s recent nomination as 2026 Emerging Act of the Year by Americana Music Association's Americana Honors & Awards to be held on 9/16 at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
Best of Our Possible Lives is twelve songs of self-discovery that solidify Boy Golden as one of roots music’s most singular singer songwriters. Uniting the distant universes of 80s folk pop & 90s country, Boy Golden collides influences including edgy modern indie rock, a swaggering slice of sonic exploration.

Who is Boy Golden? On the one hand it’s a moniker for a mysterious new artist, who’s building buzz following major support for track "KD and Lunch Meat" from his debut album which hit #1 at Alternative radio in home country of Canada, & major moments including debut at Bonnaroo, & opening for Jason Isbell, MJ Lenderman, & Joshua Ray Walker.
On the other hand, Boy Golden is also a conduit for songwriter Liam Duncan~ a persona that allows him to create honestly & freely. For Duncan, Boy Golden grants access to an inner world only reachable through music
On the release of Suffer Boy Golden says “Today, I am presenting an acoustic demo of “Suffer”. I don’t think this song is done working in the world, and now, with a little more wind at my back, I’m giving it a second look. We all suffer, and I stand with you.”
Boy Golden’s philosophy is simple: By living here~now~in this moment, we create the “Best of Our Possible Lives”!
