Leon Griffin’s career began with his employment at WHBQ-TV in 1969, following an 8-week internship. From there, the world of radio beckoned as Leon joined the air staff of WMC-FM in 1973. Following his return to WHBQ-TV as a Producer/Director, a myriad of opportunities led Leon to Ft. Myers, FL; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Abilene, Texas; and even McCook, Nebraska as a management and sales expert. Leon’s homecoming culminated in a 13-year tenure as Morning Weather Anchor of FOX 13’s Good Morning Memphis, ending with his retirement in 2010. “Retirement gave me a chance to observe how our local and national media fell short of representing this area in a positive light! Instead of waiting for a change in this attitude, I decided to dedicate the remainder of my life to being that change! Progressive X Radio is owned by Alexander-Griffin Media (AGM), the teaming of Leon Griffin and Tim Alexander. Alexander, a master musician on all stringed instruments, performs nationwide. His musical ventures have included shows with members of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Re**er Band, numerous television appearances, as well as performances with many local musicians. He also began singing with Opera Memphis in 2000. Tim Alexander has undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering and meteorology. After moving to Memphis from California, he worked for FedEx as an Engineer and Meteorologist for more than 15 years. He currently teaches for Embry/Riddle Aeronautical University. The talented duo of Griffin and Alexander has created an APP that combines the best of the past and the brightest current and future musical standouts. The music ranges from traditional to eclectic rock, blues, gospel, bluegrass, folk, and jazz with an emphasis on tying the past masters with the current performers. Every positive aspect of daily life will provide an accurate snapshot of life in the Mid-South! The APP launches on 8/28/13, and will be available on Android and Apple platforms at The Apple Store.
