My family and I have decided that we must come together as a city. The problems in Memphis are too big for us to work in silos. We must all work together and march in the same direction towards a thriving and prosperous Memphis for ALL Memphians.

There are too many candidates and too many distractions at a time when we should all be working together.

After much prayer and conversation with my family and advisors, we are suspending our campaign for mayor and will be speaking with the other candidates over the next few weeks to determine what is best for Memphis.

I am heartbroken to hear of Lieutenant Jeffrey Norman’s death in the line of duty. My deepest condolences are with this hero’s family and the entire Memphis Fire Department. We are grateful for what they do and deeply mourn this loss. We must never forget that our firefighters and first responders put themselves in harm’s way every day to keep Memphians safe.

I am deeply saddened by the recent incident during a traffic stop, resulting in the loss of a driver's life and injury to a Shelby County Sheriff's deputy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the deputy and their family. As a community, let us stand together in support of our law enforcement and work towards a safer Memphis.
