I at one point in my career saved a huge project. Instead of being commended for it, I was blamed for the project getting into bad shape. It took a year for everyone else to realize the truth and the apologies came out in droves. Not everyone gets that apology.

Yeah it's scary to walk away into the unknown. I left money on the table and walked away from significant vesting at one point in my career due to how bad my mental health was. No money is worth feeling horrible every day of your life.

It's crazy to me the psychology of people who will stay in a job that is wrecking their mental health, even when they have another job offer lined up because they fear the unknown. If you have the opportunity, take a chance if your job is taking over your life.
