The Melbourne Police Department is incredibly proud to announce that Commander Shawn Eising graduated today from the prestigious FBI National Academy (Session 298) in Quantico, Virginia!

Commander Eising stood alongside 254 elite law enforcement leaders representing 46 states, 26 countries, military organizations, and federal civilian agencies. This world-renowned, intensive 10-week program focuses on advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training, with courses accredited by the University of Virginia.

Selection for the National Academy is highly competitive and reserved for professionals with proven records of excellence within their agencies. Commander Eising’s graduation is a testament to his dedication, leadership, and outstanding service to the Melbourne community.

Today is National Bourbon Day! To celebrate, we want to tell you the amount of money we raised for Shop With A Cop because of the wonderful people who participated in Spirits of Giving and those who bought Pappy Van Winkle raffle tickets.

We raised $17,212.78!!

Thank you to everyone who donated bourbon, bought tickets to the event, bought Pappy Van Winkle raffle tickets, bought 50/50 tickets and participated in the other raffles. Because of you and your generosity, Shop With A Cop is funded for another year!

The Melbourne Police Foundation would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the 2026 Spirits of Giving an overwhelming success.

Thank you to the generous individuals and businesses who donated more than 150 bottles of bourbon, creating an amazing selection that made this event so special. Thank you to the many local businesses and supporters who donated raffle items, helping us raise even more funds to support the Melbourne Police Department and the programs we proudly fund.

To everyone who purchased a Spirits of Giving ticket, thank you for believing in our mission and supporting our cause. To those who purchased Pappy Van Winkle raffle tickets, your enthusiasm helped make that raffle a tremendous success, raising an incredible $5,400!

A special thank you goes out to our amazing volunteers and Melbourne Police Foundation Board members who donated countless hours before, during, and after the event. Your dedication, hard work, and passion are what make events like this possible.

And most of all, thank you to Charlie & Jake's Barbecue. Year after year, they open their doors and allow us to transform their restaurant into a truly special event. Their team works side-by-side with us to ensure every detail is perfect, creating an atmosphere that keeps people coming back. Their generosity goes far beyond providing a venue—they also donated the coveted bottle of Pappy Van Winkle that generated $5,400 for our mission.

Spirits of Giving is much more than a bourbon event. It is a community coming together to support the men and women of the Melbourne Police Department and the programs that make a difference in our city.
