A fantastic and engaging piece! I hope to play it many more times. I’m very thankful for for calling me to play today. This piece deserves a lot more attention.
Encouragement is always nice! I’m trying to get the high register to sound less like an extension and more a part of my normal range. E♭ is a little unstable for me on C trumpet. But I think part of that has been due because of part of my approach.
I’m nowhere near , but it’s a start. Aside from the trills. Those sucked 😂. Also — to my string player friends for the blasphemy.
This is how I think a trumpet lesson with Donald Trump might go.
Since this excerpt always sneaks up in Also Sprach Zarathustra, I thought I would turn the tables and sneak up on it!
Not perfect, but real. The first movement of the Telemann used to be a test of strength for me. But now it’s a chance to exercise my heart and soul. I played this four times without too many breaks before deciding to record it because I know staying committed to the music overcomes my endurance concerns.
Pond skating! I always dreamed of skating on a pond. Growing up in Hawaii was great, but it’s a guaranteed negative to a pond freezing. Thanks to my son for filming 😆

Forgot to post a first day of the semester picture yesterday! I had a full class just after I took this photo. It’s wonderful to teach students who are eager to learn!

Sure looks pretty in the sunlight!
Some more work on the Peskin. This new Yamaha Chicago BR B♭ plays so easily. I’ve never loved playing a B♭ so much. I feel like it’s an extension of my imagination.
