Proper sleep helps with their physical and mental development. Create a bedtime routine to help them get the rest they need. ๐๐๏ธ
Bonus: It is scientifically proven that toddlers than sleep more than 10 hours a night have better mood and emotional regulation.
Sleep hygiene for toddlers:
1. Have a simple cozy routine for them that can be followed everywhere (this makes traveling easier, and makes the routine being thrown off less likely).
2. Have a wind down ritual that starts an hours before bed, for a lot of toddlers this can be a combination of "getting energy out" activities followed by something more relaxing like picking out a book or their pajamas for the night.
3. Remember toddlers love to explore and to have a say in their activities. Provide options for choices but you as the parent get to select the choices. "Tonight before bed would you like to..." this gets them invested in the bedtime plan and allows them to feel like they have choice. Often times this makes bedtime more relaxing for everyone and less a "battle of the wills".

Easier said that done, a lot of toddlers are tricky when it come to eating a balance diet. Here are some pro tips learned over the years from clients and health care professionals a like to make eating a healthy balanced diet easier with toddlers.
1. Fun or different shapes of food, crinkle cut carrots, strawberries cut in half to look like hearts.
2. Arranging the food on the plate to look like a picture (think simply face, heart, star).
3. Food pairing, "Well you like carrots, a lot of people who like carrots also like sweet potatoes, would you like to try that today?"
4. Favorite character stickers on the snack bag, or piece of fruit. Grab you kiddos favorite TV characters sticks and place it on the new food or on the container where the newly introduced food is coming from.

Ergonomics at work.
Your ergonomics depend on your job and what is required from you to be able to do your job comfortably in the best way without putting bad biomechanics stress on your body.
While stress builds muscle (think lifting weights), stress can also harm joints, tendons, ligaments and muscles especially when it is repetitive (think carpal tunnel).
How do you evaluate your ergonomics?
1. Do you often feel tight and sore in your body from repetitive motion done at work?
2. Do you feel like uncomfortable when sitting at your desk , driving in your car, carrying your baby in their baby carrier?
3. Do you often wake up with areas of the body, sore, or tight, having to move them to get them to feel better? Or To get feeling back in body part?
Similar to sitting on the floor for a long periods of time and getting the "pins and needles sensation" when we are at work we are focused on what we are doing and not necessarily what our bodies are doing until we get home, or get up to go to lunch.
This week try tuning into your body to see which areas are sore and try to determine which movements could be contributing to what you are feeling in your body.

Stretching is essential for spinal health. But it doesn't have to be difficult or time consuming! Have you ever heard of habit stacking?
It is a neurological hack to get increase consistency with a new habit. Every morning when you sit up in bed try getting into the habit of reaching up to.the ceiling for a big spinal stretch before your feet hit the floor.
Bonus points if you throw in a gentle spinal twist or rotation to the mix! (Don't do this fast, and don't do this to pop your back every. morning *We see you hyper mobile back poppers!* )
Slow gentle and controlled movement is the name of the game here, this stretch done properly takes less than a minute and can have major impacts on how much better your body feels!
There are so many things in life that have to warm up before we used them, cars, stoves, coffee makers, we respect these rules but sometimes we forget that our bodies could use a warm-up to before everything we demand of it daily!
Try these easy stretches to keep your spine flexible and strong.

Lately we've been seeing lots of ads and getting lots of questions about cortisol in the body, which it is extremely important to regulate your stress, and try to maintain a proper cortisol balance in the body that is not the only factor.
Before purchasing a supplement or signing up for a new program, do some research, check with the health care professionals that you trust.
Health is often marketed to us a complicated problem, and that certain individuals "cracked the code". Most health care professionals both know and believe that the body is deigned to heal itself. Now sometimes we need a little help, but with proper nutrition , environment and movement you would be surprised how many conditions can be improved. Have you ever had to think about telling your body to heal a scrape?
No! But you do have to keep the scrape clean, make sure your take care of it while it is healing and provide an environment where healing is more likely, safer and easier.
