Helping $1 Million+ B2B Businesses Access Private Capital
07/28/2026
The biggest retirement mistake business owners make has nothing to do with investing. 🤔
It's waiting.
Waiting until the business is bigger.
Waiting until revenue is higher.
Waiting until life slows down.
Here's what I've learned...
Business owners are incredible at planning for next quarter.
But many never make time to plan for the next 30 years.
The result?
They pay more taxes than necessary.
They don't build personal wealth outside their business.
When they need working capital or a line of credit, they discover their financial foundation isn't as strong as they thought.
Your business may be your greatest asset.
But it shouldn't be your only retirement plan.
The best entrepreneurs I know treat financial planning like they treat their business.
They schedule time for it.
They review it regularly.
And they have someone who keeps them accountable.
Your future self is counting on the decisions you make today.
Question: When was the last time you reviewed your long-term financial plan, not just your business plan?
Most business owners don’t have a systems problem.
They have a translation problem.
This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to speak at the Project Management Institute Fort Worth Chapter about building systems that reduce manual work, improve consistency, and help businesses scale.
Afterward, I kept thinking about something I’ve seen over and over again.
Business owners invest thousands of dollars in coaches and consultants. They leave with a detailed blueprint.
Then… nothing happens.
Not because the strategy was bad.
Because no one showed them how to translate the blueprint into an actual operating system.
Which CRM should you use?
How should your emails be structured?
What automations should come first?
How do you connect your lead generation, onboarding, and follow-up processes?
A blueprint doesn’t build the house.
Ex*****on does.
My advice is simple:
Before you buy another piece of software, map your workflow.
Start with one question:
What happens from the moment a prospect contacts my business until they become a happy client?
Write every step down.
Think of it as creating a wireframe for your business.
Once you can see the process, implementing technology becomes much easier.
Technology doesn’t fix broken processes.
It amplifies good ones.
Where in your business are you still relying on manual work that could be automated?

People hear “split dollar” and immediately assume it is too complicated to understand. It is not. The real danger is using a complex structure without actually understanding what each side owns, pays, and receives.
