We got our new service van all lettered up, compliments of the Sign Center in Kalamazoo! We use them for all of our decal needs — Dan does a great job and his turnaround time is always second to none. We also built out shelving inside to keep everything organized when we’re at your home for a service call. Whether that’s drain cleaning, a septic inspection, pump replacement, riser install, or a locate job — we have the tools and experience to take care of you.

We had a track come off on the excavator the other day. Not a catastrophe, but it’s real life. We ask a lot of our machines, and things are bound to happen. In this business, conditions are rarely perfect — things break, weather doesn’t cooperate, crews run short. It’s always something. But you can tell a lot about a company by how they handle it when things aren’t going smoothly. Excavator track off, delayed project, needing to return to a job — whatever it is, you’ll get honest communication from us and a team that doesn’t stop at the first hurdle.

We just knew this project was going too well! Finishing in the rain…passed our inspection with Kalamazoo County and got it backfilled just in time for the skies to open up. 1500 gallon Infiltrator tank running to a bull run valve and (4) 50’ stone trenches! The grade change on this site made for some extra plumbing work but it’s nothing we can’t handle.

This season has been non stop. We are very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with as many great people as we have. Want to get some work done? We had the pleasure of giving this property a complete overhaul — and we’re pretty proud of how it all came together.

✅ Installed a new 300-gallon dosing chamber with 4 trenches and a visual high-level alarm so the homeowner always knows if their pump needs attention.

✅ Solved a recurring flooding problem in the backyard by adding a new drain line to an overflowing catch basin. We ran new SDR 35 pipe down the hill to a natural low area in the front yard — and hand-dug the entire line to protect the existing lawn and sprinklers. You can barely even tell we were there!

✅ Repaired the sprinklers, seeded the disturbed areas, and laid erosion netting so this beautiful yard can bounce back quickly.

✅ Topped it all off by bringing in fresh topsoil to cover exposed roots under one of their trees and refreshed the river rock throughout the landscaping.

Nothing better than delivering the full cleanup package to a great customer!

Several weeks ago a few of our team members spent (several) hours looking for this tank. Could it be under the driveway? Surely not. Well, it was. Luckily, we only had to cut a small window into the asphalt to access the tank lid.

Zach got out today and dug it up and tomorrow we will get it pumped out. Sometimes something as simple as pumping a tank out, turns into much more of a project. It looks simple when you’re driving by and watching a project come together — but what happens behind the scenes is a whole different story.

There’s someone in the office full-time answering your calls. Someone dedicated to coming out and giving you an accurate quote. An install crew. Suppliers. Vendors. Equipment maintenance. Inventory restocking.

You see us on your property for a week. What you don’t see is everything that had to happen before we ever pulled in your driveway.

Smart Septic has grown fast over the last 18 months, and with that growth comes a constant push to sharpen our systems and processes. Today that meant building out a fully organized trailer — every tool, every fitting, everything we need for installs in one place and ready to go.

It has been a busy week and a half at Smart Septic. Tanner and Jose have installed over 10,000 square feet of drain bed and are in the home stretch. We have the Orenco alternating valve all plumbed in, pressure lines run to each zone, and control panel/pumps and floats all prepped.

The last step will be having our electrician pull wire from an out building to power the new pumps. All excavating work is now complete and this project is just about wrapped up. This has been our biggest project to date and we couldn’t be happier with how it’s gone. Milan Supply Company and Deaton Trucking have been a massive help on this project getting materials delivered for us.
