Fresh goat milk cooling in the refrigerator.
One of the most important steps after milking is getting the milk chilled quickly. Once it’s cold, it’s ready for drinking, cheesemaking, yogurt, soapmaking, or whatever project comes next.
There are days when I look at these jars and still can’t believe how much one good dairy goat can contribute to a homestead.

Nothing goes to waste around here.
Today’s bone broth is simmering away with fresh herbs from the garden. The kitchen smells amazing.
Bone broth has become a regular part of life on our homestead. It’s a simple way to use every part of what we raise and turn it into something nutritious.
Do you make your own broth?

Today’s herb harvest is already hard at work in the kitchen.
I spent part of the day turning freshly dried herbs from the garden into homemade seasonings, including garlic powder, garlic scape powder, Peppender, and lavender lemon pepper.
I’m also experimenting with a new batch of lavender-infused maple syrup using my LĒVO machine. The lavender came straight from the garden, was dried in the LĒVO machine and I can’t wait to taste how the floral notes blend with the rich maple flavor of my own homemade maple syrup.
One of the things I love most about gardening is that the harvest doesn’t stop when the plants are picked. Fresh herbs become seasonings, infused syrups, teas, and so much more. It’s one more way to enjoy the garden long after the growing season ends.
Paid partnership with LĒVO. They provided the LĒVO machine so I could test it and share my experience. All opinions are my own.
What herb or spice blend would you make first?

Fresh lavender and thyme from the garden are headed for the kitchen. I love this stage of the process - the moment when months of growing turn into something useful.
Some of these herbs will be dried, some will be infused, and some will end up flavoring meals and homemade products.
What are you harvesting from your garden right now?

One of my favorite moments in the garden each year is harvesting the first lavender bouquet of the season.
There’s something special about stepping outside with a basket in hand, cutting fragrant stems warmed by the sun, and knowing they’ll soon be filling the house with that unmistakable scent. Today’s harvest may not look like much, but every stem represents another season of growth, pollinators, and garden memories.
Some of these bundles will be dried for future projects, some will be tucked into drawers and closets, and a few will simply be enjoyed for their beauty.
Do you grow lavender? If so, what’s your favorite way to use it - dried bouquets, sachets, crafts, teas, soaps, or something else?
