Ritchie for State Representative
Husband, father and disability advocate. Trying to make a difference in the world.
I am the democratic candidate from the 5th LD for State Representative, Position 1.
Well, the primary election results are clear and I will not be moving on to the general election this fall. I want to thank those that supported my campaign and my fellow candidates for a race that focused on the issues. Stronger candidates prevailed and I wish them good luck in the general election. I'm grateful for the opportunity to run for public office, grateful for our democracy and most grateful to my wife and our children for joining me on this journey.

As of today, lots of votes still yet to be cast in this critical primary. Ballots are due on Tuesday August 6. I hope to earn your vote. I’m proud to have earned the endorsement of the Seattle Times and many labor unions, teachers and allied organizations. I'll work across partisan lines to improve our schools and to protect our environment but I won't compromise my core beliefs. I won't bow to partisan pressure, won't serve special interests and won't back down from protecting middle class, living wage jobs in Washington.

I'm running for state legislature because our state needs consensus builders who will work together, and not be reflexively partisan.
From the Seattle Times: "Ritchie rises above the pack in his willingness to embrace disparate ideas to alleviate cost of living hardships to residents — regardless of the side of the political aisle from which they come." "I will do whatever I can to make sure we’re continuing to support middle class living wage jobs … no matter what party or who is in the office.”

Primary election time has arrived and ballots are in the mail. There are a lot of good candidates running for office in the 5th LD but what makes me stand out is my commitment to middle class, living wage jobs. I will work with anyone regardless of their party or their office, to help build an economy that supports the middle class. I am committed to affordable housing, supporting our public schools, preserving the environment and protecting women's healthcare choices. I've been endorsed by the Seattle Times. I hope to be able to earn your vote.

Proud to have earned the endorsement of Humane Voters of Washington!
Affordable childcare is critical to middle class families in Washington State. High costs, uncertainty and lack of availability are hurting our working families. In Olympia, I'll fight for middle class, living wage jobs and that includes making sure families have access to affordable and quality childcare. OneAmerica Votes Children's Campaign Fund

I've been endorsed by the Seattle Times in my race to represent the 5th LD in Olympia. Here's the link to the Times: https://www.seattletimes.com/opinion/editorials/the-seattle-times-editorial-board-recommends-jason-ritchie-for-legislative-district-5-position-1/
Here's some of what the Times had to say: A wide-open primary in Washington’s 5th Legislative District has attracted a refreshing number of competent candidates. Among them, Democrat Jason Ritchie stands out with a broad résumé and sincere desire to find ways to ease the ever increasing cost of living in the region. Casting it as a “crisis of affordability,” Ritchie, a former Sammamish City Council member, has vowed to seek solutions that place constituents above partisan politics. “I will do whatever I can to make sure we’re continuing to support middle class living wage jobs … no matter what party or who is in the office,” he told the editorial board. Ritchie, who earned Mullet’s endorsement, rises above the pack in his willingness to embrace disparate ideas to alleviate cost of living hardships to residents — regardless of the side of the political aisle from which they come.
