I love door knocking. It’s my favorite part of campaigning because I have a chance to talk to people on their own doorstep, see how they live, and learn about what matters to them. See you soon at your door!

I enjoyed the League of Women Voters Lake Minnetonka Plymouth Area MN Northern Lake Minnetonka Mayors forum this evening. Medina Mayor Albers and Corcoran Council Member Vehrenkamp and my good friend Plymouth Deputy Mayor Gregor were among the panelists. Bonding for water, sewer, roads, and bridges is one of my key platform issues and I look forward to supporting the cities in District 37 to meet their local infrastructure needs.

Thank you, LWV BPOMG for inviting me to participate in the Youth Voter Forum earlier this month. I am constantly inspired by our young people and appreciated the chance to hear from them!

The BPOMG Chapter of LWV hosted a Youth Voter Forum on April 8 at Park Center High School in Brooklyn Park. A panel of four elected officials answered insightful questions from moderator Alli Harasyn and attending graduating seniors, on the theme of “Why Voting Matters.” Featured speakers were (L-R) current Maple Grove City Council Member and District 37 MN Senate candidate Kristy Janigo, Brooklyn Park Mayor Hollies Winston, Youth Voter Project VP Maitreya Reeder and MN House District 38B Representative Samantha Vang. Teachers enthusiastically responded to the Forum afterwards, asking that it become a yearly feature for the Senior Class.

Neglect of vulnerable residents in group homes resulting in their death is completely unacceptable. As a state senator, I will support increasing fines for neglect and revoking licenses of facilities that fail to keep people under their care safe.

Ryan Riggs died in the backyard of the group home that was paid to take care of him.

MPR News and its investigative unit, APM Reports, found that at least 50 Minnesota group home clients have died since late 2022 under circumstances serious enough to trigger a state maltreatment investigation. In 19 of those cases, state investigators concluded that the home had neglected those vulnerable people.

Yet the group homes faced only minimal consequences, with fines in cases of neglect ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, and almost all group homes kept their licenses.

April 26 to May 3, 2026, put out your red porch light for fallen firefighters. We lost one of our own, Mike Paidar, in August 2020 to cancer from line-of-duty causes. We will never forget Mike paying the ultimate sacrifice for our safety and will continue to advocate for more research, funding, and policy support to protect our firefighters and support their families.

Each year, the city recognizes Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters. The 2026 dates are April 26 through May 3.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation annual memorial is the official national tribute to all firefighters who have died in the line of duty during the previous year.

This tribute is of special importance to the city and the Maple Grove Fire-Rescue Department as we remember Michael Paidar who died in the line of duty in 2020.

In honor of Michael and those we have lost, the Maple Grove Town Green will be lit in red. We invite residents and businesses to participate with red lights at their property as well.

The City of Maple Grove, MN - Local Government Arbor Committee had its annual Arbor Day Celebration. The Minneapolis #44 Elks Lodge for the 140th anniversary. And door knocking in the rain. Thanks for all the great connections!

Tonight I am at the Every Third Saturday Black, Silver, & Blue Gala! I am looking forward to hearing the veterans stories who were helped by ETS! When I was a county veterans service officer, they were a strong partner in helping homeless and justice involved veterans under my care.
