I’m not usually one to share songs in such early stages, but, what the hey. This idea started to fester a couple of weeks ago, and this clip was one of my first play throughs of a verse and a chorus. Sorry, you don’t get the chorus yet. Gotta save something for later. So, nowhere close to final form, but I’m inspired by the direction. I was going to take a breather from recording, but this one is itching for the full treatment.
I love an acoustic based song with a little electricity injected into it. I started playing acoustic, and that’s where most of my songs begin, but I dig some distortion, some edge, some extra life. Really love the vibe that this song is bringing. I can’t wait to release this thing next Friday, 8/29!
Recording is intimidating, yet exciting. Frustrating, yet intriguing. Hard, yet rewarding. So fun feeling the song come together and to accept the groove as it finds itself. The definition of DYI here, kids. Ugly, brown hand towel and all.

Just words on a page. Until they’re not. From a title pulled from a 20 year old notebook, to thoughts and feelings vomited onto paper, to a structure that looks like it could sing, to a living, breathing mix of sounds that you can feel in your bones. It’s a journey with a lot of obstacles to overcome. But worth every effort when there’s a song out in the world that can never be undone. I love seeing this song take shape.
