BPR plays Saturday at 5 pm as the “Good Treble Band” at Hollis NH Lawrence Barn to “Rock the Vote!”

My older brother was a dead ringer [sic.] for Jerry Garcia.

Bearded, paunched with wire rim glasses and a slightly rounded face, Alan could fool those who approached with his practiced responses, easy smile and affable self.

The morning after this world lost Jerry, Alan and I rock climbed early in Boulder Colorado’s Eldorado Canyon.

I was paper thin, guide material then, and we appeared easily “Gerry and rock guide” as Alan played out a familiar part in our final performance, signing autographs and thanking his fans.

We have always wondered what we must have added to the Grateful Dead legend that day, and the stories created to be retold as legacy.

What a strange, strange trip it’s been.
