Wilder Deitz

Wilder Deitz began his musical career early, accompanying his singer-songwriter father throughout the Midwest before the age of 13. He begun studying piano at 8, bass and guitar at 12, and started to lead his own groups in middle and high school. It wasn’t until college, however, that Wilder began to dream of performing and teaching music for a living. At the University of Wisconsin Wilder studied under NEA Jazz Master Richard Davis and began teaching extra-curricular music at Madison East High School, his alma mater. It was through Davis and this education work that Wilder met the musicians who were to form the core of his own touring ensemble. The group now performs creative, improvisatory music throughout the Midwest and beyond as the Wilder Deitz Singers.
