June is National Dairy Month!
It is hard to overstate how important our dairy farmers are in Central Wisconsin and throughout the state. Dairy is by far the largest agricultural sector in Wisconsin, and it is a major part of our heritage and history. This month, I hope you will join me in recognizing and thanking everyone who helps to make Wisconsin "America's Dairyland!"

Yesterday, I joined Senator Cory Tomczyk for a tour of Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats to literally see how the sausage is made right here in the 87th Assembly District!
I always enjoy touring the local businesses that call Central Wisconsin home. Thank you to Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats and the Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors for arranging this visit!

Happy Birthday, Wisconsin!
I'm proud to call this state my home. The creativity and hard work of our neighbors, the strength of our communities, and the beauty of our natural environment all help make Wisconsin is a great place to live, work, and play. We have accomplished so much since 1848, and I look forward to continuing to work to live up to our state motto and keep us moving Forward!

Ensuring that our roads are safe and well-maintained continues to be one of my top priorities. Last week, I joined local leaders and stakeholders for a breakfast roundtable in Wausau to discuss the transportation challenges and opportunities in Central Wisconsin.
Thank you to the Transportation Development Association of Wisconsin for hosting this event! I appreciated the good discussion on ideas and solutions to meet our transportation needs.

As the school year comes to an end, I want to congratulate all the seniors in the 87th Assembly District who have graduated or will graduate next week!
Over the course of this legislative session, I have had the opportunity to meet many of these impressive young men and women. I am always inspired to hear their plans for the future, and I know that each of them will go on to do incredible things and bring pride to their communities!

Last week Friday, I had the chance to meet with 4th grade students from DCE Evergreen Elementary and DC Everest Riverside Elementary during their visit to our State Capitol!
I always enjoy talking to students about how our state government and how my colleagues and I pass a bill. I hope everyone had a fun and educational time!
The bipartisan surplus deal I voted for last night was not perfect, but it would have given relief to Wisconsinites burdened by sky-high property taxes, ended tax on tips and overtime, and put taxpayer dollars back into the hands of taxpayers.
After my speech, several Assembly Democrats chose to work with us to return the surplus to taxpayers. Unfortunately for the people of our state, every single Democrat in the Senate instead chose to play selfish political games.

Last night, I voted for a bipartisan agreement to return the state surplus to the taxpayers who created it. Sadly, this agreement failed to pass after Senate Democrats selfishly and shortsightedly voted unanimously against it.
We had the opportunity to provide meaningful relief to hardworking Wisconsin families, increase our investment in special education, and support veterans and victims of recent natural disasters. Radical Democrat legislators instead chose to play politics, and now your overpaid tax dollars will continue to sit in Madison coffers.
