Check out this article about how su***de has impacted more older adults and Black residents since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our very own, Leah Rolando, was quoted:
“In the data that we get on su***de deaths in Dane County, we’ll see health conditions listed as a risk factor, or chronic pain listed as a risk factor,” she said.
While her group focuses on providing resources to people in crisis, she said ensuring state residents have their basic needs met before they begin struggling is critical to curbing future su***de deaths.
“I think we can do both, and just try to connect people more in a world that’s increasingly disconnected,” she said.
Milwaukee study highlights post-COVID shift in su***de deaths New data from Milwaukee County highlights how rates of su***de have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are not going to heal all traumas and rebuild broken systems overnight, but we can commit to continued learning and doing some things differently.
We can make space for grief.
We can slow down.
We can hold space for pain.
We can be curious.
We can share with one another how we’ve made it through difficult times.
This May during Mental Health Month and always, we owe it to ourselves and to those we seek to support to be brave and move beyond raising awareness." đź’™
