🐠 Under the Sea: Sandy-toned bedding, sea-inspired sheets, and illuminated seashells create a magical underwater escape.

🏰 Castle: A blank canvas for imagination, complete with storybooks and subtle fairytale details, including an enchanted rose inspired by Beauty and the Beast.

🦸‍♀️ Super Heroes: Comic-inspired wallpaper, superhero bedding, and custom-knit plush toys bring the excitement of a favorite comic book to life.

🚀 Space: Starry ceiling wallpaper, glow-in-the-dark sheets, illuminated planets, and a solar tube designed to feel like a spaceship window create an out-of-this-world experience.

🎀 Hello Kitty: Striped ceiling details, strawberry accents, and Hello Kitty storybooks bring the playful theme to life.

🚂 Trains: A custom hand-knit train and personalized pillow featuring the child’s name make this bunk uniquely theirs.

Every detail was thoughtfully designed to create a space that encourages curiosity, creativity, and a little bit of everyday adventure. ✨

Once the design concept is approved, we transition into space planning and sourcing. This is the phase where ideas start to take shape! 💡🙌🏼

Every piece is carefully selected to fit the scale and flow of the home. We finalize exact dimensions, layouts, and materials to ensure each element integrates seamlessly into the space.

During this stage, we also order all finish and fabric samples, so when it’s time to present, our clients can see, touch, and feel the quality of what’s being proposed.

The Importance of Lighting ✨☀️

Some of the most functional elements of a home can also become some of the most memorable.

The skylight and solar tube in this space were required to meet the natural-light requirements of the building code, but as designers, we also wanted to think beyond simply meeting the requirement and find ways to make these elements feel intentional and unique to the space.

That’s why, in the space-themed bunk room, we positioned the solar tube to create the feeling of looking up at a starry sky, almost like you’re peering out of your very own rocket ship. 🚀

Before Little Hideaway became a room filled with six very different adventures, it started with a blank canvas and a simple question: how could we transform this unfinished attic into a space that truly sparks imagination?

Our design concepts are where those ideas first begin to take shape. For this project, we wanted the room to feel playful and full of personality while still being comfortable, functional, and cohesive as a whole. Natural materials, fun patterns, whimsical details, and six distinct themes came together to create a space where each bunk could have its own little world while still feeling connected to the room around it.

These early concepts helped establish the direction for each space, from the individual bunk themes to the millwork, finishes, lighting, and layers that would eventually bring the room together.

This mid-century refresh is proof that a remodel doesn’t have to mean a full gut.🩷

For this project, we reworked the fireplace to create a stronger focal point in the room, adding new tile and a custom mantel while keeping the existing fireplace insert and TV. The new fireplace layout also inspired a new furniture arrangement, using the homeowners’ existing pieces in a way that made the room feel more intentional and connected.

From there, we layered in new artwork to bring color and personality to the walls, added can lighting and chandeliers for a brighter feel, and painted nearly the entire first level a light beige to let the artwork’s colors shine.

The built-ins received a refresh, too, with a mix of new decor and greenery that complemented the homeowners’ existing pieces.

This home office was ready for a refresh, and a few thoughtful changes made all the difference.

We traded the saturated blue-purple walls for a warm white, but kept a nod to the original color by repainting the bookcases and replacing the shelves in a moody blue finish bringing out just the right amount of contrast.💙

A custom wood desk now fits perfectly between the bookcases, paired with a cognac leather chair for a warm, timeless touch. Across the room, custom cabinetry and floating shelves were designed to house the client’s existing speakers while cleverly tucking away the printer.

Then came the layers that make the space feel complete: a hand-looped wool rug, soft Roman shades, and sculptural lighting that adds a little personality overhead.✨

Fresh, functional, and still full of that midcentury charm.

An off-center fireplace and dated mantel made it difficult for the family to arrange their furniture in a way that felt comfortable and functional. With table lamps serving as the primary light source, the living and dining areas also lacked the layered lighting needed to fully support the way the family uses the space.

Through thoughtful planning, a reimagined focal point, and a comprehensive lighting plan, this home has now become a space that feels both beautiful and functional.
