Last night I attended a local online songwriters group meeting lead by Josh Shirt. I shared a new song I’ve been working on and got some very helpful feedback.

Today, I added another musician “biography” to my book collection. Can’t wait to read this one. I’ve become quite a fan of Blaze Foley’s music since we learned and performed his song, “Clay Pigeons” at bluegrass camp in Grand Lake last summer. Thanks for introducing me to this song, Tom Keefe.

Jamming online tonight with our JamKazam bluegrass group. We’ve been playing together since early on in the pandemic, and we just keep going because we enjoy it so much.

Added some new (old) music to my collection. Can’t wait to listen to these albums by my friend and mentor.

Well, it’s official - I’ll teach my next Wernick Method Jam Class on June 20th. Hope my musician friends will consider signing up, if you are interested in learning about jamming with other bluegrass musicians. Message me to learn more.

Before the internet, YouTube videos, online Zoom classes, teaching CDs and DVDs, instrument camps, or ArtistWorks, this is how one would learn to play bluegrass solos. Revisiting these classic books and tapes today to see what golden nuggets they may hold.

Added a ‘new’ album to my classic bluegrass music collection - the so called “blue album.”

Today found me sitting in on the first session of Michael Daves’ 5-week “The Guitar Style of Clarence White (Live Recordings '63-'67)” zoom class. It was both fun and informative. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to play all those triplets like Clarence, but I did find a few cool licks and runs that I think I can learn and add to my flatpicking tool box.

My latest purchase of a classic bluegrass CD/album arrived in the mail today. Looking forward to listening to this one tonight after the bluegrass jam and excited to add it to my ever growing music collection.
