So if The Dead Inn comes back from the dead, does that make it The "Alive" Inn?

Absolutely not. Still Dead, but in a good way. Renovations are under way. πŸ–€

Your hostess has officially moved in. It's finally happening. Be afraid. But be excited too! πŸ§›β€β™€οΈ

Disturbing History-

Today we bring you the story of Frankie and Johnny.

If that sounds familiar, it should. It is a song that has been recorded over 250 times by icons like Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Sammie Davis Jr., and Van Morrison. It was also made into a Broadway musical and several movies. But did you know that the song is about a real life murder that happened in St Louis, MO?

On October 14, 1899, in downtown St Louis on Targee St, (right about where the Enterprise Center, home of the St Louis Blues now stands)was a boarding house when 23 year old Frankie Baker lived. Frankie was a "working girl" and was good at her job. She also had a 17 year old boyfriend named Allen "Albert" Britt. Albert was a ragtime piano player and quite a ladies man.

One night, Frankie walked into a club where Albert was playing piano, and caught him with another pr******te named Alice Pryor. Frankie confronted Albert, there was a huge argument, and she ultimately stormed back to her room on Targee St alone. Early the next morning, Albert went to her room where she shot him in the abdomen with a 38 revolver. Albert died four days later, after identifying Frankie as the shooter. The trial was just a month later, in November 1899, where Frankie was found not guilty by reason of self defense. She said Albert had a knife and had beaten her in the past.

St Louis songwriter Bill Dooley was seen performing the first version of the song just weeks after the killing, called at first Frankie and Albert, but the name was ultimately changed from Albert to Johnny, according to one source, because Albert's parents were elderly and devastated by the loss of their son, and begged the songwriter to not put their son's name in the song.

Frankie Baker moved away from St Louis in 1901 to try to escape her new notoriety, but the song followed her everywhere. She sued film companies more than once over the Mae West movie "She Done Him Wrong" but ultimately lost all of her lawsuits. She eventually checked herself into a mental institution where she died in 1952 at the age of 76.

Today, one of our ghosts made a surprise appearance on camera. If you watch closely, a little over halfway through, you will see someone run past the camera 3 times. On the second run, you can almost make out an arm.

There was nobody out here except me, and the camera was in my car window parked on the driveway right next to the front yard.

We have several different ghosts here, but the most active one by far is a young boy named Ben. We heard stories about Ben from a girl who grew up here, and when the paranormal team came, they also got the same name. Ben loves to play games and pull pranks, so I have no doubt that this would be him. πŸ–€

Sharing with permission from Sarah’s Macabre Modeling -

I got to not only explore the original 130 year old post office/general store in the small town of Luebbering Missouri yesterday but I also made a new friend thanks to our oddity community!
Laura bought this property that is now the Dead Inn. She’s living her dreams and turning the upstairs apartments into a haunted/horror type Bed & Breakfast. The main level will have an antique/oddity type of store and spooky camping on the grounds.
The property has had a paranormal investigation that showed the presence of a 5 year old boy that supposedly drowned in a lake or a pond nearby looking for his mothers lost ring.

Such a cool property and such an awesome kind hearted lady! Ty Laura for letting me come and explore, I can’t wait to see what you do with this amazing piece of history! οΏΌ

We Bought An Abandoned General Store/Post Office/Hotel!! Now what?

We had a wonderful visit yesterday, from Sarah Evans of Sarah’s Macabre Modeling fame! She got the full VIP tour, and we explored areas around the property that I hadn't even uncovered yet. We discovered several ancient outbuildings (including an old outhouse!), and possibly even a portal to hell in the ground. 😳😈

With this nice weather comes our push to be ready for guests by summer. We will be starting with one 2 bedroom unit available for overnight stays. Everything else will be opening as each part is ready. We have years of hard work ahead, so we appreciate your patience and support as we spread our wings and practice flying.

For fun, here is a link to the walk through of our beautiful building from the very first day we walked in and fell in love...

Stay spooky my friends! πŸ–€πŸ§ŸπŸ§™

From your friends at The Dead Inn. πŸ–€

11/16/2020

Attention spooky, fun, and cool peeps!! We are so busy right now trying to be ready to be open for business in the spring. While our extremely handsome Director of Disturbing Dillemas is working non stop on the multitude of building repairs, it is time to find some perfect decor, so we are turning to our fans and friends for help.

We are looking for QUITE a few things right now. Anything that you think might work, send pics. We LOVE donations (and your name will go on our permanent supporters plaque, to be installed before we open), but of course we know nothing talks like the almighty dollar. Best deal is if you have something that we will trade an overnight stay for!

That's right, you and a friend can be one of the first to brave the mischievous pranks of our resident ghosts if you have something we really like.

Here is a copy of our wish list so far (we are also open to tons of ideas!)

TAXIDERMY! (My personal weakness) any kind of preserved animals, mummified, science displays, animal skulls, bones, etc.

Original, very dated looking furniture. Think avacado green, harvest gold, vinyl kitchen chair sets with sparkly table top. Ugly, ugly living room furniture. (But clean! No horrible stains or bad odors please!) Does not have to be in perfect condition.

Any working vintage appliances- stove, fridge, etc. Especially those old 50s-70s colors and styles.

Spooky books, vhs tapes, dvds, or blu ray. For the theatre/media room.

Signs. Dead end, yield, no left turn, stop, as well as warning signs from old businesses, etc.

Funeral items- coffins, body bags, lectern, etc.

Mannequins, dress forms, or any random body parts or bones.

Horror movie posters! New, old, if it's scary and they made it a movie, I really really really want the promo stuff! 😎

Creepy old antique photographs!

Hopefully you get the idea. If there's something that you think we need that's not mentioned here, chances are you're right.

Basically, if it makes you uncomfortable, it's probably a good fit.

We have a giant UPS type truck named Mad Max so we can move just about anything. We also have a haunted hearse named Sylvia with a real casket inside that we could bring to pick up the items and you can have a photo opp, if that's something you like

We are willing to drive up to about 3 hours from St Louis, MO, or maybe more if it was an amazing treasure. Also willing to discuss shipping.

So tell your friends and start digging through your basement! We know you have some dirty little secret skeletons buried in your closets (literally) and would love to have your name on the VIP plaque, or even better, spend the night BEFORE WE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! Dig up your best and most unsettling goodies and shoot us a message! You might end up becoming a true Dead Inntrovert!

**Pics are taken from the internet as perfect examples of what we are looking for! But feel free to use those crazy imaginations of yours!
