Black Sheep Rugs
Black Sheep Rugs is a partnership of rug makers Mark Bond and Gretchen Adams We use New Mexico Navajo-Churro wool for our rugs.
Mark's primary interests are in creating pile rugs using various techniques while Gretchen works exclusively on a loom. Churro is a heritage breed originally brought by Spanish colonists to New Spain in the 16th century. Intensive efforts have brought the breed from the edge of extinction in the 20th century. Churro (or, Churra) sheep are particularly well suited to the climate and terrain of New Mexico and have been particularly popular with Navajo weavers.
