Absolutely LOVE my blanket ladder🥰🥰🥰🥰

I posted a review, but wanted to make a post with photos as well because words don't do April's work justice! We ordered a bench for our entryway and could not be happier with her work. Her craftmanship is superb and her customer service is amazing. She updated up throughout the process to ensure that our exact requests were met (which they absolutely were!) for our custom piece. We now have a beautiful handmade bench that far exceeds the quality you would find in a store and is something that we will keep forever. Not only is the detail of the bench perfect, it is very sturdy. We highly recommend April's work!

April made my wife and I an awesome planter box and it came out great!! It's worth way more then we paid for it!!! I highly recommend!!!

All pieces are carefully selected & handcrafted by April in a small woodshop in Loxley, Alabama.

What kind of cutting board should you choose? 🤔 Day THREE!!!

Here are a few snapshots of a few edge-grain boards I completed, all made of Walnut. 🌳

All were crafted by laying several pieces , on their sides, & gluing together. 🖤

Knife marks do still appear on edge-grain boards, but they can be disguised easier, but cutting along the grain lines.

Here are a few snapshots of a few face-grain boards I completed in this order: Sapele (Africa/type of Mahogany), Canarywood (S.America) & live-edge Walnut (domestic)🌳

All were shaped from one single piece of wood. 🪵

You’re probably familiar with the term “live-edge,” which are always face-grain boards. These rustic boards seem to be a favorite. 🖤

As noted, knife marks do appear easier on face-grain boards, so they are most commonly used for serving food, or as “charcuterie trays.”

💡 Interestingly, imported woods tend to be much more dense & easier on knives.

I had so much fun with this custom project, & think I’ll do a lot more.

I used only hardwood scraps that I had on hand: Wenge, Ambrosia Maple, Walnut, Cherry, & Red Gum.

Who else loves African Sapele ??

Not only is is beautiful, but it is extremely durable & dense.

My favorite thing about this species are the silky looking “ribbons” that you uncover when the wood is finished. 😍
