Today, Black Mamas Matter Alliance joins advocates across the country for a Day of Action to pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. It’s been 43 years since the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, yet that hasn’t stopped pregnant workers from being denied accommodations for their health and forced off the job.

For too many workers, particularly Black workers, pregnancy discrimination is still an everyday reality—and the pandemic and economic recession have only worsened this injustice. We must prioritize pregnant workers and pass the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act without delay! #BlackMamasMatter #ProtectPregnantWorkers

BREAKING NEWS! Congress just passed the strongest lactation workplace support legislation ever. The PUMP Act expands protections for breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and lactating parents. Right now, four out of five U.S. mothers start out breastfeeding, but less than half are still breastfeeding at six months postpartum. One of the main causes for the drop-off in breastfeeding rates is the lack of break time and a private place to pump in the workplace. The PUMP Act closes the gap in the law and expands protections for all lactating parents who work outside of the home.#PUMPAct #breastfeeding #chestfeeding #IPumpedHere #breastfeedingisbipartisan

🚨I am asking all of you to call your congressional rep to urge a YES vote on the the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act that is going to the House floor for a vote on Friday 10/22 (tomorrow!)
We need a tidal wave of calls urging members of the U.S. House of Representatives to votes YES on the PUMP Act and close the gap that leaves nearly 1 in 4 women of childbearing age without the right to break time and a private space to express milk during the workday. Just call and ask your representative to support H.R. 3110
