We live in a time when information is readily available, yet understanding history requires more than simply knowing what happened. It calls us to engage with the past in ways that can challenge our assumptions and deepen our perspective.
Reckoning begins when we move beyond awareness and ask what the lessons of history mean for us today.
In our Book Club, we are currently reading How the Word Is Passed by Clint Smith and using it as a way to reflect more deeply on how history is remembered and discussed across different places and communities.
You can join the Book Club through the link in our comments.

We’re excited to share that Louisville artist Kenyatta Bosman has been selected as the apprentice for sculptor Ellex Swavoni as she creates the new America 250 sculpture for the (Un)Known Project Sculpture Park.
Through the creation of this new sculpture, we felt it was important to invest in the next generation of artists by building mentorship, skill-sharing, and creative growth into the process itself. Through this apprenticeship, Kenyatta will learn alongside Ellex throughout the design and fabrication process as we work toward the unveiling later this year.
“I’m incredibly excited to be working alongside Ellex as her apprentice as she creates a new public art installation for the (Un)Known Project Sculpture Park,” said Kenyatta Bosman. “It feels wonderful to be a student again and to have the opportunity to learn from an artist whose work I’ve admired for quite some time. I’m especially looking forward to learning her sculptural process and exploring how working in three dimensions can expand and transform my own practice as a photographer and visual artist. This apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity for growth, experimentation, and deepening my understanding of material, form, and storytelling.”
