From Balcony Box to Forever Home 📦
Jack and Jill were living with their mom and littermates in a box on a balcony. No one wanted to bring them inside. Thankfully, one of our fosters stepped up, and his wife was able to secure the mom and kittens and bring them to safety.
Their mom was not adoptable, but as soon as she finished nursing her babies, she was spayed and returned to her neighborhood, where kind people are watching over her and making sure she is fed.
After weeks of care, weaning, and getting them healthy, Jack and Jill found their happy ending. James and his family adopted them, and while his twin daughters were a little shy for the camera and the kittens were much more interested in playing than posing, we could not be happier for this sweet duo and their new forever home.
They even got matching lacy collars — so adorable!

Did you know short haired black & white cats — sometimes even more than black cats — are often the last to get adoption interest and the last to be adopted?
Take a look at our weekly Adopt a Pet profile view statistics. On the first slide, you’ll see that Simba received 177 views in the past 7 days. Simba is a specific breed, a Norwegian Forest Cat with long hair. Close behind him are Flo, a Russian Blue, and Asher, a Siamese, with 74 and 58 views.
Then look down at the bottom of the second slide. There you’ll find Monique and Oreo — two beautiful but “ordinary” domestic shorthair black & white cats — with just 7 views and 3 views.
If you want to truly rescue, these are the cats who need the most help. These are the cats who wait the longest for someone to notice them, choose them, and give them a family.
We can receive dozens of applications for a cat like Simba, while Oreo and Monique are lucky if they get even one.
This is one of the hardest truths in rescue: people are often drawn to looks before personality. We understand that, but we also hope more people will realize how many incredible cats are overlooked simply because they are not considered “special” enough on the surface.
Please share this post so more people understand how real this issue is. We never cherry-pick the cats we rescue based on breed, looks, or adoptability — and we never will.

Another week, another 35 cats spayed, neutered, and vaccinated, preventing thousands of future births before they ever begin. 🐾
We had such a great day at our clinic alongside the amazing Shannon from , whose support helps make so many of these clinics possible. And of course, was there keeping everyone laughing and spirits high all day long. ❤️
Rescue work truly takes a community, and we are incredibly grateful for ours. Every cat fixed means fewer kittens suffering on the streets, fewer crowded shelters, and more lives changed for the better.

Have you ever seen a cat with better moves on a toy?! Paprika sends it flying one way at full speed, then stops it with a dramatic little backhand like he’s been training for this moment his whole life. And yes — this talented little athlete is currently available for adoption.
Paprika’s mom was a friendly stray who had been abandoned in a neighborhood and gave birth in an open garage. As the kittens got older and started zooming around, they were headed straight for danger.
Thankfully, they were rescued before anything bad could happen.
Now Paprika is living his best indoor life and looking for a forever home. He is a total love bug who comes running for cuddles, lap time, and attention, and he will absolutely wrap himself around your legs for pets. He’s confident, outgoing, friendly, and always ready for fun.
He loves playing with his siblings Wolfie and Cowbell, as well as other cats and kittens, and he’s also comfortable with two small cat-friendly dogs.
Paprika is playful, curious, and full of personality. He loves toys, chasing kitties around, climbing cat trees, and being right in the middle of whatever is going on.
He has excellent litter box habits, is healthy, free-feeds on dry food, and loves wet food.
Since he’s only 1 year old, Paprika needs a young kitty friend under the age of 3 in his new home — or better yet, he’d love to be adopted with one of his siblings, Cowbell or Wolfie, if you’re looking for two. He could also be adopted with another young cat from our rescue that he has bonded with.

It has been a long road for Julius.
After a week of hospitalization, we finally got the answer to what has been causing so much of his suffering: Julius has a diaphragmatic hernia, with two-thirds of his liver displaced into his chest cavity. This was likely caused by a past trauma, such as being hit by a car.
In addition to that, Julius is also battling dermatitis, FIV, and severe stomatitis, leaving his mouth painfully inflamed and infected.
The good news is that after a week in a 24/7 care hospital, Julius’s anemia was resolved, his appetite returned, and he was stabilized enough to leave the hospital.
He is now in one of our experienced medical foster homes, on cage rest so his appetite and litter box can be monitored, where he is feeling better and eating lots of wet food. He is currently on pain medication and finally getting some comfort.
Julius will still need significant care ahead.
His specialty hernia surgery is scheduled for May 27th, and we want to make sure he is as strong as possible before going under anesthesia. He will also need a separate dental surgery to address his severe stomatitis.

We are so happy to report that Mr. Pickles’ dental surgery went wonderfully yesterday. 💙
Because his condition was so severe, he did need to have all of his teeth extracted except for his front canines and the tiny teefs between them.
The good news is that he is now home with his new mom, Susan, and sister cat, Winter, resting comfortably and on his way to healing, pain-free eating, and a full, happy life!
