It is hard to put into words the feeling of seeing our beloved city of Los Angeles going through this. Our minds and hearts are with all our colleagues, clients, friends, and heroic first responders facing this devastation 🤎

We are saying goodbye to 2024 from a magical land within the Sacred Valley of Peru. Experiencing the majestic beauty of the Andes, the ancient cities of the Inca, and the pureness of the local flavors—so authentic—has been a gift of awareness and gratitude. Feeling this sacred place is a reminder of what truly matters in this beautiful life. Be present and grateful for all of life’s moments. Blessings for a New Year full of love, health, and joy.

“Rooms of serene sophistication layered with intriguing antiques, comfortable contemporary furnishings and eye-catching artisanal objects have become the calling card of the Los Angeles–based design firm . Ohara Davies-Gaetano, the studio’s namesake, is a virtuoso at crafting emotionally evocative environments, like this dining room in a house in Atherton, California. While there is a certain simplicity to the decor, the scheme, she says, “feels like an extension of the home — welcoming, curated and full of curiosity.” This was essential, she explains, because of the room’s location next to the entry, making it, with its “exceptional plasterwork ceiling,” highly visible, although it is used only for formal dinner parties and holiday entertaining.”

“The clients wholeheartedly put their faith in ’ sensibility and “embraced the opportunity to mix in antiques as well as vintage pieces, which to me creates soul—especially in a home that’s new,” the designer notes.”

“In the expressive interiors conceives, her innately stylish eye is immediately apparent in their use of reclaimed materials, rough-hewn textures, subdued earthy hues and mostly European antiques that seem basked in warmth and light.”

“The first challenge for the new home was the architecture. Community covenants require that exterior housing styles maintain a Mediterranean or Italianate aesthetic for unity throughout the neighborhood. But inside, the house could show off its own personality and does so through the vision of interior designer and architect .krantz.architecture. The pair previously had worked together on proj- ects and aimed for an integrated architecture and design plan.”

“Since this is a beach home, the desire was to create an indoor-outdoor lifestyle and to maximize the exterior spaces,” she says. “The way brought the exterior living spaces into the home by allowing the kitchen and living room to completely open up to the courtyard and the pool not only makes you feel more connected to the exterior, but also emphasizes the scale of both the interior and exterior spaces, allowing everything to feel more expansive.”

“While maintaining a ubiquitous palette of serene whites, managed to introduce hushed tones in the form of upholstery details, antique carpets, artwork, and other subtle accents. The family room is a case in point: Davies-Gaetano gently tweaked the neutral scheme with throw pillows in various shades drawn from the hues of the carpet. Of course, the brightest chromatic pop in the room comes from a striking painting by ’s fellow countryman, the late Colombian artist Fernando Botero.”
