I’ve been trying to figure out “the best” way to say this. Especially because my niece Lyric is 15 and this is such a huge loss. This is my worst nightmare come true…
My vivacious, hilarious, super intelligent, beautiful 35 year old sister Portia has passed away.
She was found by a surfer on Santa Monica Beach (the pier) unresponsive this past Saturday. We don’t know her cause of death yet.
Portia suffered from bipolar disorder & schizophrenia for over 17 years.
At some point Portia refused to take the prescribed medicine she needed to balance the chemicals in her brain.
This made her have manic episodes where she was erratic, violent, paranoid, depressed, excited all at the same time. She sometimes heard voices.
This lead to many hospital & jail visits.
If you really know me you know our relationship had many ups and downs. In the past years I had set boundaries & wouldn’t accept bad behavior. A gut wrenching action that was necessary for my sanity & mental health.
Through it all I always prayed for & missed my sister. She hasn’t been herself in many years. So sad her life has ended this way. I hope she’s at peace now. Until I see you again Sis🕊️
