Per the Motion Picture/Television Film Permit Enforcement Unit: The City of Los Angeles, Mayors Office on Filming has changed the approval process for filming permits in the City. Film permits will not be approved if they fall under the new filming parameters listed below.
• City Hall Building at 200 N. Main Street is not available for on-location filming.
• City-owned buildings and facilities can only be permitted for on-location filming for productions that have a total number of cast and crew of no more than 50 people.
• On-location filming at all locations, including public rights-of-way, is temporarily restricted to productions with a combined cast & crew of 50 persons or less. Privately-owned locations, if closed to the public (including movie theaters, bars, nightclubs, entertainment venues, gyms and some restaurants) may be used for filming but are subject to this cast/crew limit.
*Item 3 has been updated from 250 Cast and Crew and lowered to 50 Cast and Crew and to include all locations.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors announced that all County buildings and facilities will be closed to the public, effective Monday, March 16th through March 31st, in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus. LA County Parks is implementing following changes effective as of March 16 through March 31, 2020:
• All LA County Parks buildings and indoor facilities will be closed to the public. This includes indoor facilities such as gymnasiums, aquatics centers, computer labs, multi-purpose instructional rooms, and classrooms at LA County Parks locations.
• All events and rentals at LA County Parks locations will be canceled.
• Parks locations will remain open as outdoor-only facilities during regular hours of dawn to dusk. This includes local parks, regional parks, trails, lakes, and botanic gardens. Limited outdoor restrooms will be available.
• Free snack programs will continue outdoors at LA County Parks locations where it is currently offered. Social distancing will be implemented during distribution.
• The senior lunch program is temporarily suspended.
• All programming at LA County Parks facilities remains temporarily suspended. This includes all recreational activities, senior programs, indoor and outdoor sports leagues, aquatics classes, instructional courses, and group sessions.
• New reservations of facilities at LA County Parks locations remain suspended.
Coronavirus Updates - Los Angeles County WDACS Out of an abundance of caution and in response to guidance from the L.A. County Department of Public Health, we are taking the following actions to maintain services to seniors while protecting their health during the coronavirus outbreak:
Per the City of Long Beach: At this time we are not moving forward in permitting until after April 30th, 2020.
Per the City of Santa Clarita: As of Saturday, March 14th, 2020 all non-essential services will be suspended, all City facilities will be closed to the public for fourteen (14) days and all City events are canceled through April.
Any permits submitted prior to 3/15 that cancelled due to COVID concerns get a one-time exemption to hold for 60 days.

Permit filming at residences and business has not changed at this time. The Los Angeles Police Department, Office of Operations, Film Unit is asking that All Permits submitted not meeting the above criteria be automatically rejected by FilmLA and not sent for approval until further notice.

FilmLA has advised us that the LAPD and Mayor's office have mandated that there can be NO MORE than 250 people on private property and no more than 50 people on city property, which would include all LA Park and Rec Facilities. The hours listed for the March are 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, however closures will begin earlier and end later in the day. The following are permit deadlines for the City of Los Angeles:
Permits and Posting for Friday July 5th must be submitted to our office by 12pm on Monday, July 1st.
Permits and Posting for Saturday, July 6th through Monday, July 8th, must be submitted to our office by 12pm on Tuesday, July 2nd.
Permits and Posting for Tuesday, July 9th must be submitted to our office by 12 pm on Wednesday, July 3rd.
The United States Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service and the Angeles National Forest have informed FilmLA that due to staffing constraints, the Forest Service will be unable to meet standard turn-around times for film permits.
Requests to film in the Angeles National Forest will be considered for approval on a case-by-case basis, until further notice. The minimum review period required for the approval of basic permit requests will extend to 10 business days. More complicated requests, including (but not limited to) requests for aerial activity or drone use will require a minimum of 20 business days to review.
FilmLA has pledged its assistance and Forest Service officials would like to reiterate their commitment to meeting the needs of the film industry. Forest Service officials offer their assurance that work is being done to reduce permit application review and approval times in the coming months.

Due to emergency repair construction on PCH in Ventura County, Caltrans will NOT be issuing filming permits involving traffic control (rolling breaks/intermittent traffic control) or the use of turnouts and road shoulders, between the LA / Ventura County Line (MM 0.0) to just NORTH of Sycamore Cove Beach (MM 5.0) until after Sunday, July 14th. That’s a wrap! For a second year, the PPS team has partnered with the Salvation Army to adopt a family from our local LA community for the holidays. Over the past week, we have shopped for and wrapped over 50 gifts that will be delivered to the family in time for Christmas. What an incredible gift to be able to give back!
BROADWAY UPDATE:
Effective 1/26 - 1/28 for Night On Broadway, no filming will be allowed between Temple St., 16th St., Figueroa St. and San Pedro St. Filming outside this area will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.
HIGHLAND PARK UPDATE 2:
Effective 1/19/18, the area bounded by Marmion Way, N Ave. 58, N Figueroa St., and N Ave. 56 will be on moratorium. The area will be available for new filming requests from 4/1/18.
HIGHLAND PARK UPDATE:
We have received word effectively immediately, the stretch of N Figueroa St. between N/S Ave. 56 and N/S Ave. 58 is officially on moratorium through 4/1/18.
HANCOCK PARK UPDATE:
We have just received word, effective immediately, Hancock Park is on moratorium until 1/1/18 due to frequency issues. This moratorium does not include Windsor Square.
Hancock Park includes anything between Rossmore Ave., Melrose Ave., Wilshire Blvd., and Highland Ave. (including both sides of Rossmore between Melrose and Wilshire).
