Great design comes through relationships. This can be a literal relationship or figurative. Here, at we forged many relationships. One such standout relationship was to our landscape architects: . The building has a literal marriage to its landscape and surroundings. Check out the latest video tour, as featured by .co with insight by

Spanning three floors and several dining rooms, one of three main driving forces was to create a multitude of experiences all within one concept. Here, we’re at the mezzanine area, which has views of the towering pasta lab and main bar. We set out to create individuality, though carry a common thread throughout.

Amaro Bar at , lush, elegant and luxurious. We set out to design a mood that is both modern and yet exudes a vintage touch. There’s a contrast between some of the warm natural finishes, garden cove and the tight lines of the back bar. The back bar features our signature light through glass shelves, with custom armature in solid brass metal and backsplash in mirror.

What started as an early commission of ! Yes, we had the opportunity to work on a historic project by of the modern legends of architecture. In full disclosure, the building was not in the best shape when started and our intent was to honor the master’s ethos. Most of the iconic design elements were not actually realized. Unfortunately, the original client didn’t execute a lot of the truly unique moments that make the work what it is. So, for us, this was actually a fortunate opportunity, in that it gave us more liberty to actually work with the building. Drawing our inspiration on archival photos and drawings, we looked into the past, and also attempted to connect to the current. What you might recognize here is the “fish scale” patterns that has become so iconic to Gehry. Well, there it is….. Hide Out for

A one of a kind within our body of work. Though we love to continually design pivot doors and movable walls, this is the first and only panel we did that’s clad with copper panels. This makes quite the entry, and you can imagine the heft of the door as you open it. Natural materials have a certain beauty that ages over time, giving a temporal meaning to the design, though we strive for timeless sensibilities.

Our projects are the results of our clients. Architecture is an art that’s an expression and reflection of a particular moment in time. With each commission, we’re given parameters, some might call them dreams, by which to work with. Sometimes, we’re also confined by budgetary realities, schedule or simply a matter of planning and building codes. At Hide Out for , it was a serendipitous circumstance that led to free expression, inspired my the artists’ own work. The stairs, hand built using solid walnut and designed using 3D tools as an homage to his work and Frank Gehry’s early works. The artist studio was actually of renovation of an early commission

A continual theme in our work is the exploration and expression both natural and artificial light. When tasked to design the members’ room for , our first effort was how to resolve the otherwise dim space. Given the trapezoidal / triangular space, there was hardly any natural light. The wedge space was devoid of any semblance of the outside world. So, using some fin walls which turn to become ceiling baffles, we were able to incorporate artificial light that would emanate in an ephemeral manner. It’s almost as if there’s a bright sun hiding behind the space, warmly glowing.

As we take on projects, we love to find collaborative partners. When tasked to design the member’s lounge at , we reached out to our friend and mastermind to create a one of a kind musical sculpture. A one of a kind composition between shapes and materials: brass, walnut wood, terrazzo and plaster. It’s an auditory and visual expression.

In honor of Los Angeles we’ll share a project we designed for with . This being the member’s club of the concert hall, we wanted to incorporate an art piece that literally resonated with the music hall. The space is designed with ceiling acoustic baffles that are also light sources. Along the walnut wood wall is Sébastien Leon’s masterful sculpture which can play music. Imagine the horns playing the tone to let you know it’s time for act two, go grab your seat!
