This ranking highlights brands where mobile could become a much stronger growth channel.
Our analysis of 1,000+ consumer brand apps found a clear pattern: apps that are treated as live channels outperform apps that are treated as one-time launches. Across the dataset, the mean days since last app update was 259 days. Apps updated within 14 days consistently scored 97 to 100 on Mobile Health Score, while apps untouched for 200+ days scored 51 to 66.
Three takeaways:
- Mobile opportunity is not only about having an app.
The brands with the biggest upside are often the ones where app health, app store presence, ratings, and update cadence could compound faster.
- The App Store rewards motion.
The algorithm is looking for signals like recent updates, rating velocity, review response rate, performance, and store page conversion. Standing still is not neutral.
- A strong mobile program can change the trajectory.
A rebuild is not always the answer. Often, the real unlock is an operating model: continuous releases, refreshed store listings, review management, and weekly visibility into app health.
