The Alta Via Program
This is the official page of the Alta Via Program at Saint Francis University!
Alta Via is an intentional community of Catholic students, guided by clergy and professors, who seek to grow closer to Jesus Christ through communal life, intellectual and spiritual formation, and the exercise of the moral virtues. Alta Via is Latin for “the high way,” or “the way to the heights.” This phrase signifies that the purpose of this group is to aid Catholic students on their upward journey to the promised land of eternal life.

Did you know that each year of Alta Via has a patron Saint? Each of these Saints were Franciscans themselves. For the first year, Professing the Faith, St. Bonaventure is the Patron Saint. He was a renowned theologian, teacher and spiritual master. He loved the Catholic Faith and taught the depths of it at the University of Paris in the 13th Century. We pray for his intercession to know the faith, to profess it well, and to love it as he did. St. Bonaventure, pray for us!

Today we celebrate Saint Athanasius! He was a strong defender of the Faith against the heresy of Arianism. He was famous for his biography of another Saint, Saint Antony of the Desert.

Join the Catholic Apostolate Center in commemorating the of St. Joseph | St. Joseph was the foster father of Jesus and a carpenter. Today, we celebrate the feast day of St. Joseph the Worker. He stands as an example of the holiness of human labor to all those who are employed. Through our own work, God calls us to be examples of holiness to our coworkers and realize the dignity of human work.
