Our Longview FFA Ag Teachers spent the week in Corpus Christi at the Ag Teachers Association of Texas Conference! From hands-on workshops and team building to celebrating program achievements, it was an incredible week of learning and growth.

Some highlights:

❗️Area 6 Coordinator’s Award - Division 1❗️

This award is based on our FFA participation throughout the year. We could not have accomplished this without our Ag Teaching team, admin, students, parents, and supporters of our program!

❗️AET - Top FFA Award Management Program❗️

Our chapter was awarded 3rd place for our Lone Star and record keeping achievements!

❗️Workshop Spotlight❗️

Mr. Session presented a workshop titled “Bridging the SAE Gap for Seasoned Ag Teachers” where he discussed the value of FFA and Supervised Agriculture Experiences and how to connect the two for success while keeping students engaged.

We’re bringing back big ideas and even bigger energy for our students this year. Ready to get to work. Go Lobos! 💪💙💛

❗️Day 3 of the 98th Texas FFA State Convention❗️

Another amazing day for Longview FFA!

Our students started the morning as voting delegates at the Business Session and First General Session. After, we met at the Fresh Country booth to be recognized as a 2025 Gold Status Chapter. We’re so grateful for Fresh Country and their support for our program!

These two filled out a rigorous scholarship application, met scholarship requirements, and participated in a scholarship interview to earn this achievement. Every FFA event, classroom learning experience, and SAE they participated in over the last five years has led to this moment!

❗️Day 2 of the 98th Texas FFA State Convention❗️

Here are some highlights:

⭐️ LONE STAR DEGREES ⭐️

Four of our members walked the stage to earn their Lone Star Degree. This is the highest honor a state association can award an FFA member. It requires years of dedication to their Supervised Agriculture Experiences, leadership, and service.

Gunnar Broadway, Trisha Dhana, Lane Foreman, and Kaylee Swaim represented Longview FFA well, receiving their Lone Star Degree certificates and chains to wear proudly.

Other Longview FFA members who earned their Lone Star Degrees this year were: Benjamin Sartor, Bethany Baltes, Chloe Todd, Connor Kelsey, David Lopez Sanchez, John Northcutt, Kyla Rayford, and Trinkeyfey Martinez-Percaz.

🥼 AGRISCIENCE FAIR 🥼

Our Agriscience Fair students competed on Monday and got their results Tuesday morning.

Adileigh Reardon & Tatum Duey: 2nd Place in the State 🥈

Ayden Zaragoza & Ricardo Rodriguez: 2nd Place in the State 🥈

We also had other contestants participate in this contest: Audry Lewis, Isabella Castillo, and Macy McWilliams. Each of them did a phenomenal job!

We rounded out the evening with some time at the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.

Day 1 of the Texas FFA 98th Convention is complete! Students spent time at the Fort Worth Zoo, competing for Ag Science Fair, and working the Ambassador program. We're excited to see what the rest of the week has in store for Longview FFA!

TEXAS FFA NEWS | Jerky of the Month: How Texas FFA Members Are Blending Food Science and Entrepreneurship

The Talkington FFA chapter in the Lubbock ISD Agristem program has found a flavorful way to blend food science education, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. Their student-operated “Jerky of the Month” program has quickly become one of the most talked-about initiatives in the school district; and it’s entirely led, produced and marketed by students.
