Had a blast jumping in on “God Blessed Texas” with my longtime co-writer Brady at his album release show at Chief’s last month. Always a good time playing with 3/4 of too. Paul was killing the harmonies, and John was doing what John does best, keeping the groove going and singing right along with us.

From a night a few weeks back at The Bluebird with Paul Jefferson, Lisa Brokop, and Tiffany Goss. Had Lauren join me on one we wrote together... about how love’s a beautiful thing-right up until your demons meet.

Funny how things come full circle. Jim Lauderdale handing me the lead on the finale here at Music City Roots took me right back to the 90s… when Little Texas and Jim were labelmates. We did some promo runs together over in Switzerland, even backed him up on a few shows. Good memories, and still just as much fun.

Thirty years in and Sam’s still saying, “What’s the first line of that chorusy part? and I don’t know, it might sound too stupid.” We laugh, sip the coffee, and keep at it.

Truth is… we’d probably rather be on the lake. Tight lines this year, my friend.

Kicking off my first show of 2026 on Feb 12th with My Furry Valentine, helping the Pet Community Center care for our four-legged friends. Always good to share the stage with my buddy Sonny, along with Mae Estes and Shawn Camp — plus a special appearance by my fried-chicken dog, JoJo 🐾
