If The Puppet Fits

Today I made a little batch of Scragglepuss noses out of clay, these cuties will go in the oven to cure, then I will paint them and gloss them— I also handcraft the toe-beans as well 💗

A little about this last commissioned Scragglepuss…

FYI: each puppet comes with customizable fur, two limbs and a handcrafted neck collar with the tag. Arm rods are sold separately.

My customer wanted cotton candy colored fur, and she asked for four limbs total, as she wanted the puppet to lay around and look like a stuffed animal when not in use as a puppet. So I created a bit more padding throughout the body, just enough to give it a little bit of weight but still maintain its characteristic floppiness.

Instead of a traditional arm hole at the hemline, I created it in the back, just below the neck area so she could just reach in and puppeteer the head from there.

The scragglepuss is a mouthless puppet so it relies heavily on motion to communicate. I find this really magical, as it allows you to embody the spirit of a cat and portray a cat‘s body language. This is especially mindful of people who aren’t comfortable using a voice to puppeteer.
