An Introduction to Concise Tuition:
Concise Tuition was established some 50 years ago, under the leadership of Val Plummer. As a single parent, Val decided to supplement her income by tutoring from home; and within one year, had become so popular, that she left full time employment as a scientist, to work exclusively with school children. During 1994, Val’s daughter, Andrea, started sharing the w

I wish I knew who Ella G was - so I could thank her personally for the kind words!
We want to recognize random acts of kindness around the CEC community! This one comes from Elle G., the parent of a CEC student, about Andrea W., a teacher at CEC Castle Rock. If you are a member of our CEC community and would like to submit a random act of kindness that someone has shown you, visit https://forms.office.com/r/JBr7w6QZw4. It can be anything, big or small!

Argh Mattey!
This week we are counting down the top 5 winners of the "Math Meme Contest." An honorable mention goes to Wyatt H!
Over Labor Day weekend, our Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and Algebra II students labored over creating their own math memes. The results were as creative as they were hilarious!

Classroom antics - making learning fun.
Math can't always be fun - so we need to take every opportunity to make it exciting and bring a little discourse into our classrooms.

Such an incredible honor to have been nominated for this Teacher Appreciation award. I was so surprised by the nomination - this was an exceptional student who was so incredibly dedicated to her studies... but I had no idea that I had made this impact on her the previous year. Goes to show that we, as teachers, touch lives in ways that we may never even know about. Incredible honor for me. Felt like a "student's choice" award.
Congratulations to Ms. Wildemann and Ms. Robertson who recently received Teacher Appreciation Awards! These two educators were nominated by their students, Deon A and Meili L, for their outstanding dedication and commitment to teaching. What a special honor for these two amazing staff members!

TeeHee - I got dressed up as Wednesday Addams for Halloween last year! It was called Mrs. Wildemann's Add-Em's class.
Have you met Tuesday Add'em and her cousin, IT, in Ms. Wildemann's math class today?

This was such a fun week at CEC! We coordinated a cross curricula "Mars Week" where a number of classes coordinated their lesson plans around space exploration. My Pre-Algebra and Algebra I classes designed aqueducts with suitable rise over run gradient slopes to transport water on Mars; and my Algebra II classes used Ellipse equations to calculate the flight plan of rockets to travel from Earth to Mars. So cool! Learning SHOULD be fun - right?

Today's Staff Spotlight is Mrs. Andrea Wildemann, our math teacher and math department chair! Mrs. Wildemann earned her bachelor's degree in engineering from Rand Afrikaans University in South Africa and she has been teaching for 30 years! What she loves most about teaching is when her students realize their potential in math; she lives for those lightbulb moments when something "clicks" inside a student. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, the outdoors, genealogy, and spending time with family and friends. If she could have one super power, it would be to be invisible and cause harmless mischief.

Good Morning!
I apologize for my absence from social media. Teaching at a public high school over the past two years had consumed ALL my time, and I even stopped tutoring to be able to cope with the workload, as I poured ALL my efforts into my classes.
But I am back. Presently only taking in-person students on weekday afternoons. Feel free to reach out if I can be of service.

I have been grading papers for the past 7.5 hours without a break... and I am now halfway through.
Y'all... teachers seriously don't get paid enough! That's an extra 15hours per week that I don't get paid to do. Grr.
