On the 3rd day of special session, House Democrats voted against 66 local property tax relief bills for communities in Georgia.

A two-thirds majority was needed to put the question on the ballot for the voters to decide but now they are blocked from even voting. 😀🀯

Homeowners in Georgia will continue to struggle.

Jubilee Day, Freedom Day and now Juneteenth honors the day freedom finally reached more than 250,000 enslaved Black Americans in Texas. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston to announce and enforce the freedom promised by the Emancipation Proclamation.

The announcement came through General Order No. 3, issued by Major General Gordon Granger, more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Later that year, the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment ended slavery nationwide.

Today, Juneteenth serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring value of liberty and the continued pursuit of freedom for all Americans. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I ask for your prayers of wisdom, direction, and protection as the special legislative session kicks off tomorrow.

Because session rules limit fundraising once we gavel in, we need to hit our $10,000 goal before midnight tonight to secure our defenses.

The Locust Grove Women's Club sprang into action with a Food Drive when we heard the Veterans Support Group's pantry was running low. Special thanks to T & T Meats, Angie Dixon, who is such a great partner in the community! I so appreciate the leadership of Peggy Gau & Alison Taylor!

Our State President, Peggy Wilson, was able to celebrate with us along with Mayor Carlos Greer, Councilman Rudy Breedlove, and Assistant City Manager Bert Foster.

Thank you to all the donors who give back to our community πŸ’œ

Recently, I was honored to attend the Mighty Hero Homes event at the Old State Capitol in Milledgeville. 84 homes will be built on 20 already acquired acres to start the goal of eradicating veteran homelessness! My senator, Rick Williams, was instrumental in realizing this dream.

The residential side of the Spalding County Veterans Center had their grand opening today. I was so excited to attend with my friends and support this great mission.

Fifteen transitional residential rooms with all the services that the Discovering Soldiers Potential (DSP Waycross) provides will greatly benefit the community and beyond.

Henry County provided the mattresses and I have included a list of items still needed in the pictures below. If you can contribute, it is one of the best causes I know.

Attending this celebration was very moving on the 82nd anniversary of D-Day πŸ’œ
