“In high school, I was anxious about the way I was perceived. I had friendships that left me feeling insecure, unloved, and insufficient. I learned to bottle up who I was to fit into the mold of who people wanted me to be. When coming into recruitment I craved deeper friendships that would love me for who I truly am.
Fortunately, when going through recruitment I found Gamma Phi, which immediately made me feel seen and known. Now, 3 years later, this sisterhood has given me friends who embrace every side of me, even the ones my past insists are too much, too loud, or too intense. This didn’t come in the big moments but in the small ones like study sessions at Zen Coffee, dance parties in the foyer, and tanning in the side yard as the women of this sisterhood affirmed who I am, encouraged me when I needed it most, and talked me through my darkest days. I could go on and on about the ways that Gamma Phi has shaped me into the person I am. When I reflect on the last 3 years, I can have nothing but gratitude for the women who have surrounded me. This sisterhood that has given me more than I could’ve ever asked for and I’m forever grateful that freshman year me took a chance on Gamma Phi Beta, because I don’t know who I’d be without the women who stand by me.”

“Hey there!! I just spent the last week in Fremont Nebraska serving as a director of Camp Kesem at UNL. Camp Kesem is a national organization that serves kids whose parents have cancer! I’ve had a huge passion for Kesem ever since I first attended as a camper, after loosing my dad to glioblastoma when I was 7! For the past year I have served in the director role, planing fundraising events, on campus engagement and helping to grow our chapter! And before that I was a volunteer coordinator, where I recruited and trained all our wonderful volunteers! While I have experience with cancer, so many of our counselors don’t, and that’s what makes Kesem truly special! You feel the magic no matter where you come from, who you are, or what you’ve been through! Kesem is the only place in the word where cancer gives more than it takes! Kesem has been the very best part of my college experience, and I would encourage everyone to check it out! Kesem love and magic! ✨🐛🏕️”

WHY GPHI WEDNESDAY w/

“Going through recruitment as someone from Lincoln, I was honestly really nervous that college and sorority life would feel too much like high school all over again. I was scared I wouldn’t truly find where I fit or the kind of friendships I had been searching for my whole life. But the second I walked into Gamma Phi, that fear completely faded. From philanthropy round talking to Sydney Beck to pref round with my now big, Ella Brester, Gamma Phi truly felt like home from the very beginning, and it has every single day since.
Gamma Phi has helped me grow in more ways than I could ever explain. It has given me my very best friends, my travel buddies, my walking buddies, my couch time girls, my biggest cheerleaders, and the people I know I can count on through absolutely everything. Living in the house made that feeling even stronger. Some people genuinely questioned if I ever moved out because of how much time I still spend there, and honestly that says everything. Gamma Phi became so much more than just a house to me, it truly is the house that built me.
I will forever be grateful that my freshman year self took a chance on recruitment and ran home to Gamma Phi. If I had to do it all over again, I would pick Gamma Phi and every single one of my sisters in every lifetime!!”
