I took a few years off from making bags until it excited me again. We’re back! Round reed is lending itself to subtle patterns, braided rims, and a generally more enjoyable process for me. This one and a couple others will be available tomorrow at 12pm est

The mantel was a generally unprecedented process, but especially for the curve of the legs. I wove the front first, and worked on every other part to stall before tackling the sides. There were a couple rounds of unweaving before understanding that each curve would be a little different because of the irregular weaver widths. Subtle asymmetry as evidence of human hands 👌🏻
Thank you for your genius concept, for the frame, and . Photos by .cecilia. And thank you for mantel celebrating with me!

It’s been two years since inception, and the mantel is complete! Woven with white ash over a wood frame for a beautifully crafted home in Lexington. Thank you for your trust and shared vision on this piece. I’ll share more slowly, as I savor .cecilia’s photos and not weaving any more 90 degree angles for now.
