Watching professionals work through their initial discomfort is such an important part in serving individuals with autism and their families. "Diagnostic overshadowing is one major problem. Doctors often assume a nonverbal patient with an IDD who is acting aggressive or irritable should be sent to the emergency department and given antianxiety drugs, according to Scheidemantel. 'They see it as psychiatric,' he says. 'But that behavior might be coming from intense pain, like an ear infection.'"

For our new followers: Dulles Golf Center & Sports Park welcomed these ladies two weeks ago and they’ve had so much fun learning the ropes from an incredibly empowering staff. Well now that labor has produced fruit with their first paycheck.

We have been having a blast here at PosAbilities Spring Break Camp! We had two super fun farm days! Yesterday we visited Temple Hall Farm and Today we spent the day at Long Stone Farm! We learned all about farming and farm animals. Special thanks to farmer Ben from Temple Hall and Farmer Annie from Long Stone for the tours and making the experience so great!

SUMMER PROGRAM REGISTRATION OPEN! 🌞

8 weeks of programming planned for this summer, starting June 27th through August 19th.

Our focus is to develop fun programs for teens with disabilities with five goals in mind:
1. Explore new interest and develop skills through leisure activities
2. Gain independence in daily living skills
3. Gain independence in the community and make new friends,
4. Follow instructions from a variety of individuals
5. Increase self-advocacy skills needed to navigate community settings

(Ages 13 and up, will consider 12 based on level of need)

For new participants, we will host an Open House on April 15th for those that want to come visit us, tour the facility and get all your questions answered.

We do have limited spots available, so register by April 15th to save your spot! We will waive the registration fee to our returning participants and give priority if registered by April 15th and then first come first serve based on availability.

We had a great program last year, and we are planning to make it even better!

Our Story

Katie Wilcox is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has worked in the ABA field for nearly 10 years. Katie has been a BCBA and a Virginia Licensed Behavior Analyst since 2013. Katie has worked with a variety of learners, ages 2-60, in public school, private school, in-home, and career settings. Katie is also the owner of Behavioral Momentum, LLC and RePurpose, LLC. Katie loves being an active member of the Loudoun County Community, and serves on the Loudoun County Disability Services Board. Katie is passionate about providing appropriate education to individuals with special needs, and loves working on transition and vocational skills. She is a firm believer in using evidence-based practice and making data-driven decisions

​Claudia Skinner is entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience leading and managing various business ventures. Claudia founded ICS Consulting Services, LLC and is a co-owner of Affordable Designer Cabinets and Natural Art Granite. Claudia is an active member of the Loudoun Special Needs community and believes in providing support and mentorship through programs within her community. She serves as a SEAC member, volunteers at Wheatland Farms Therapeutic Ridings, and is widely involve in the special needs community. Most importantly, she is the proud mother of a child with special needs and believes that every child needs to be provided with the support they need to reach their potential. Her passion to help others and love for her daughter inspired her to explore and seek programs that could be suited to support children with disabilities reach their potential.

​Claudia and Katie worked together for years, sharing a common vision of what a high school education should be. Together, they developed an innovative and unique approach with the goal of having students graduate with meaningful employment opportunities.
