What does the voice inside your head sound like? How is it working or not working for you?

What things hold you back from challenging your own thinking? Here are a few possibilities: afraid of the negative emotional experience one may initially have about themselves and they are not in control of the inner critic/mind. There also may be difficulty in accepting the "shadow" self in fear of change (or believing perhaps that they cannot change or are unwilling), or perhaps feel as though they cannot accept themselves completely (self-identified negative qualities or behaviors).

If you become overwhelmed while making self-assessments try looking into emotional resilience and giving neurological pathway reprogramming tools like daily affirmations, meditation and gratitude a try. These practices can help someone become more open to authentic self-reflection through creating an internal environment of self-love and trust for your own abilities to handle inner turmoil that can be produced through self-reflection and personal transformation. It can take time and requires patience, however, these methods can create a healthy internal environment for studying personal thought and behavioral patterns in a progressive way.
