URGENT: Due to the shelter being overcrowded, we are going to have to start euthanizing dogs as early as tomorrow. Our hands are tied and unfortunately we are NOT a no-kill shelter. If there are any Rescues or other Shelters that can step in to save some of these dogs, please, please do. These are all good dogs that deserve to be given a chance. He is doing well in his training program and making great strides. Katie, Rob, and thier team are working on his resource guarding issues by establishing trust with him. He loves to play on thier obstacle course and sometime down the road may be a great candidate for agility training.
Once the results come in we will post! We will start promoting him for a foster in January once he has gone through a few more weeks of training. Zane is so popular that he has TWO rescue groups advocating for him…. Save the Tails, Inc and us!

A family member of a DDB foster talked a neighbor into surrendering a couple puppies they had living outside. They were able to rehome one puppy but still have little Stella. They aren’t in a position to keep Stella but couldn’t leave her to live outside either.
Stella is a pocket pittie mix. She’s only 25 pounds or so at about 5 months old. She is dog friendly but does guard food and toys at home.
Do any of our rescue partners have room for little little girl? She is not spayed yet as we typically wait until 6 months to do that. The foster is able to transport!

Over a week ago Dogs Deserve Better Blue Ridge pulled Bailey out of an outdoor pen. Her owner passed away recently and family members reached out to our rescue friend, Tracey Triggs. Thank you, Tracey, for establishing a good relationship with the family and asking us for help 💙. We LOVE working with you!!!
Today Miss Bailey was transported to her foster (to possibly adopt) family! Thanks to Save the Tails, Inc for finding an amazing home for her. Thanks to Kari Johnson Mueller for giving her a safe place to land. Thank you Monica Good for going out with us to get them. Monica and Kimberly pulled these two lovely ladies out of their pen today. Monica drove them to meet Kari and she delivered them to Harrisonburg Animal Hospital. Thier person recently passed away and extended family reached out to Tracey for help with rehoming them. We are so happy we were able to help today!
The black and white one is Bailey and she will be going to a foster home through Save the Tails, Inc. Rebel is going to DDBBR foster to adopt mom Robin.

Formerly Maddox, this love was surrendered to us in April with two siblings. They had been living in small pens at a property that was abandoned after a house fire. Our friends at Save the Tails, Inc took sweet Winston in and we just received this update from his adopters.
“We could not love our little guy more, and are so grateful for everyone who loved and cared for him until he was able to find his forever home with us (and three four-legged siblings who love having a younger brother). It’s amazing how much he has blossomed in just two short months from rescue - there’s nothing he loves more than his morning walk followed by a snooze next to my desk!”

Can you believe someone dumped me & my sister in a parking lot, some nice person found us and took us to the shelter where we got food and a warm plave to sleep. Now we are happy to be in foster homes while we look for our forever home. We are really good puppies. 5-6 mos Lil Duke (yellow ) is 24 lbs, She’s 22 lbs.

We are Save the Tails, Inc., a dog rescue group based in Loudoun County, Virginia. We pull dogs from kill shelters and find them homes.
In our 7 years of existence we have saved over 600 healthy, beautiful dogs from certain euthanasia (including all of the dog's in the video) and made as many local families very happy. Please help us save them. Right now shelters are full of hopeful dogs in hopeless situations.
With YOUR help, WE CAN save them! There is something everybody can do in the community.
FOSTER a dog. Provide a temporary sanctuary in your home until a shelter dog can be adopted. This is imperative! Fostering gets dogs out of kill shelters. Fostered dogs are more likely to be adopted. Ours are good dogs; treasures in the ruff just waiting for a kind human to add the sparkle. Fostering is for us FREE and a guaranteed way to save a life. EMAIL [email protected]

ADOPT a dog. Our dogs come to you healthy, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, dewormed and microchipped. Most are already housebroken and ready to go. When you adopt you save 2 lives; the dog you adopt and the one that gets his space at rescue. Our adoption fees are a fraction of what you would pay to buy a dog plus all of the fees go back into the rescue to help save more dogs. EMAIL [email protected].
DONATE. Your donations are critical to our rescue. Every once in a while a dog will come to us heartworm positive, or with an embedded collar; with unforeseen medical costs or in need of a little extra training. These things are costly but a standard part of any rescue. Donations save lives. We are a 501c(3) nonprofit, your donations are eligible for employer matching programs! VOLUNTEER. Do you have a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday to spend in air conditioned/heated comfort with an adorable dog? Our volunteers are our dogs' advocates; they tell potential adopters about the dog they are handling, plus they get to give belly rubs and treats to our dogs and puppies.
