Each year, hundreds of bikers come together for a three day memorial ride. This three day ride begins at the Flight 93 Memorial, making their way to The Pentagon, and finishing in NYC at the World Trade Center Memorial.
This organization uses this ride to ensure the family, friends, and loved ones lost during 9/11 are never forgotten. They also raise money that is turned into scholarships for children of first responders.

Good Morning today begins Fire Prevention Week. This years theme is โCooking Safety Starts With Youโ
But did you know the history????
The History of Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week was started by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in 1922 to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Fire Prevention Week teaches children and adults how to stay safe in the event of a fire. In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the first National Fire Prevention Week to occur from October 4th through October 10th, 1925. President Calvin Coolidge stated that, โThis waste results from the conditions which justify a sense of shame and horror; for the greater part of it could and ought to be preventedโฆ It is highly desirable that every effort be made to reform the conditions which have made possible so vast a destruction of the national wealthโ.
The Great Chicago Fire burned between October 8th to October 10th, with most of the damage done on October 9th. The fire caused roughly $200 million in damages, killing around 300 people, and destroying over 17,000 buildings and structures. The consequences were more than just fire damage itself, as martial law had to be declared after an outbreak of looting and lawlessness. The fire was said to have started when a cow kicked over a lantern in the OโLeary barn in the southwest side of the city. Fortunately, in 1997, the Chicago City Council passed a resolution exonerating Catherine OโLeary, as well as her cow. Today, the Chicago Fire Department Training Academy is located on the site of the OโLeary property where the fire started.
The Peshtigo Fire
Did you know that there was a fire that occurred during the same time frame as the Great Chicago Fire in 1871? On October 8, 1871 the Peshtigo Fire swept through northeast Wisconsin. The Peshtigo Fire is the most devastating forest fire in American history, claiming 1,200 lives and scorched 1.2 million acres. The damage estimate was at $169 million for the time, which would equate to over 38 billion dollars in 2021.
Fire Prevention Week is now celebrated every year during the week of October 9th and is the longest running public health observance in our country. For 2021, the theme for Fire Prevention Week is โLearn the Sounds of Fire Safetyโ. Take some time to visit firepreventionweek.org to learn more.
Fire Prevention Week Since 1922, Fire Prevention Week (FPW) has been observed on the Sunday through Saturday period in which October 9 falls to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

Patriot Day (United States)
By presidential proclamation, Patriot Day is observed in the United States on September 11, or 9/11, in memory of the 2977 who lost their lives as a result of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the United States that involved four hijacked planes. The observance also honors those who came to aid in the aftermath. Each year on Patriot Day, the U.S. flag is flown at half-staff. Citizens are asked to observe a moment of silence, usually at 8:46 a.m. EDT (when the first hijacked plane struck the World Trade Center in New York City), and are encouraged to devote the day and year to serving their neighbors and communities.
Please remember 9/11 and those lost as well as those who continue to die from 9/11 related illnesses. Please remember the family and friends left behind. Please also remember how we as a nation came together on 9/12 as one Nation, under God and Indivisible. God Bless our First Responders and if you happen to see Police Officers , Firefighters, Emergency Medical Personnel or our Military Thank them.
