Dear Aylesbury Tearoom,
Did you know that the Institute of Medicine recommends approximately 34 grams of protein for a thirteen year old child for optimal brain development and immune system protection? Unfortunately, not all children in Northern Virginia have a healthy, nutritious diet with adequate exercise. We would like to invite you to partner with The Junior League of Northern Virginia (JLNV) to be a catalyst for community leadership on this critical issue.
For the past 60 years, the JLNV has been training and empowering women to be leaders in our Northern Virginia communities. Our mission is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve the Northern Virginia community through direct action and leadership. Currently, the JLNV is a membership-based organization comprised of close to 400 women living, working, and volunteering in Northern Virginia.
Through our community programming, the JLNV provides hands-on training with volunteering and community leadership opportunities that better the lives of children. In turn, our thoughtfully structured, internal leadership development programs have support from internationally renowned trainers and opportunities to attend national level training conferences. Our unique structure allows members to cultivate leadership interests and develop leadership skills while making a tangible difference in the community.
Our current community programs are focused on preparing children for success by addressing childhood obesity through the promotion of nutrition and physical activity education. We understand that nutrition and physical activity is a proven recipe for enriching a child’s health, well-being, and academic outcomes. The JLNV is committed to reducing the number of children impacted by a lack of nutrition and physical activity by empowering families to make healthier choices.
The JLNV’s community initiatives and leadership training programs are funded by two annual fundraising events - The Enchanted Forest and Monte Carlo Night. Will you please join us in our drive to making positive change in the Northern Virginia area by making an in-kind donation that can be used in one of our fundraising events as a raffle or silent auction item?
The Tree that I am donating, is call "Sumthin' English" and will feature items from England, as well as British pop culture. We would love it if you would donate a Royal Champagne tea party for a group of five for the Enchanted Forest Christmas silent auction coming up on December 1 & 2, 2018 at the Tyson Corner Sheraton.
